Another story of a beautiful, missing woman has taken over the media. Twenty-year-old nursing student, Holly Bobo, disappeared on April 13 from Parsons, Tennessee, and she has not been found.
With so much misinformation, changing stories, rumors, and peculiar behavior on the part of the family and law enforcement, the only thing we really know is that something horrible happened to Holly Bobo. Now, I know a few people believe that Holly ran away or that the family is hiding her and trying to collect money, and some people even think that this is a ruse to further the career of country music singer, Whitney Duncan. None of this I believe to be true, especially the last one. Duncan, who has some lovely songs that have made the charts, is doing fine enough on her own, she will thank you very much, and she doesn't need some horrifying charade like this to get her notice.
The chance of Holly being found alive is slim to none. But the looming question is did one of her boyfriends take her away? Is there a serial killer loose in the area? Or, did a family member do something to Holly, perhaps in a rage over some particular issue, real or imagined? I have worked a couple of Cain-and-Abel cases in which one child became jealous of the other and murdered them to get rid of the competition and gain the parents' attention. It usually works, because parents tend to hang on to the one remaining child left and fight to save him.
So, what happened to Holly? Here are a few known facts.
Fact One: Holly Bobo has not been seen in over a week.
Fact Two: Holly's brother, Clint, claims to be the last one who saw Holly in the company of a man that looked like her boyfriend.
Fact Three: Holly's white lunchbox was found in a creek eight miles from her home.
This is all we know. Everything else we can only wonder about. Many think we know more, but we don't because we are either taking the family's word on it or the convoluted and changing stories from law enforcement or the media. Because of all this confusion, there are four credible theories as to what happened to Holly:
Theory One: A serial killer or stalker abducted Holly
Theory Two: One of her boyfriends (present or ex) abducted Holly.
Theory Three: Holly's brother, Clint, did something to Holly and the family has no idea.
Theory Four: A family member did something to Holly, most likely Clint, and they are all covering it up.
Now, in saying this, I can guess there are those who will become immediately angry that I would even suggest Theory Three and Four. But as a criminal profiler, I cannot eliminate these possibilities unless they can be proven to not possibly be true. Sad as it is to ever question a family's involvement - especially when you understand the pain they must be in - the family is statistically the most likely to be responsible for a member's homicide and they must be looked at first and foremost unless they can be clearly eliminated by the evidence.
As it stands now with the Bobo family, they were the last to see Holly. Actually, the father never stated when he last saw Holly and the mother never stated when she last saw Holly. Only the brother has claimed to have seen his sister on the morning of her disappearance, and it has been stated he called 911 to report her missing. We have no information as to when Holly was last heard from, although there is a claim there was some activity on the phone after she went missing (whether it was a ping or a text, we do not know).
We cannot know at this time if Holly was alive the morning the 911 call from Clint was made. We have heard of a woman, supposedly a neighbor, who reportedly called 911 after hearing a female scream. We have yet to get clarity on the veracity of that call or when it was actually made, although the sheriff sort of stated it was around the time Clint saw Holly with the guy he thought was a boyfriend (but Clint didn't hear his sister scream). The police have not released either the 911 call from Clint Bobo nor this supposed 911 call from the neighbor. Why?

The police have not released either the 911 call from Clint Bobo nor this supposed 911 call from the neighbor. Why?
Next, we have some mighty strange stories about Clint Bobo's 911 call. When the story first broke, we heard it was a home invasion. We heard of a man in camouflage who dragged Holly off into the woods. Then we heard that Holly was never dragged off but that what Clint actually saw through a window was a man walking off with Holly into the woods. He thought - because their backs were to him - Holly was with her boyfriend, that he didn't think anything was wrong until he came out some forty minutes later to find her car still there and blood spatter in the area. It is theorized that media got it wrong but it is also stated by law enforcement that they originally believed she was dragged. How can the story change? In the 911 call, did Clint say Holly was dragged but changed his story later when no drag marks were found or did law enforcement misinterpret his phone call or did the media get it wrong? Why isn't Clint Bobo's 911 call being released?
For that matter, why isn't a decent description of the alleged abductor being released? Bobo supposedly claims (we have never heard from him because he has not been spoken to the media or appeared in front of any cameras) that the abductor was 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall and about 200 pounds. Is that the same height and weight for the boyfriend he is said to have thought was with Holly? I have seen some photos of the boyfriend, and he doesn't look anywhere near 200 pounds. How about hair color? Did he have on a hat? Is he the same build as the brother, whose photo doesn't seem to be anywhere around? Why, if the police believe Clint Bobo's story, have they not released clear information about the suspect?
The police have stated that no one has been eliminated as a suspect. At the same time, they actually stated that Holly was led away into the woods "in fear of her life." What kind of cock-and-bull statement is that from law enforcement? If they did not see Holly being led away on camera and if all Clint said was he saw Holly walking off with a man in such a fashion that he didn't notice her in any distress, how do the police make such a ridiculous claim? And, in making that statement, they are indeed saying that the family has been eliminated. They also have stated that Holly may have been spirited out of the area but she is still in the state! How would they know this unless they know exactly who took her and where that person is? Why are they still searching through the bushes then? Why is law enforcement so inconsistent? Are they purposely giving misinformation or are they simply not very competent? I am not too happy with either conclusion. Even the family spokesperson, Kevin Bromley, appeared on Nancy Grace, stumbled over his words, hemmed and hawed, and was very evasive about the details of what happened at the Bobo home and whether Clint Bobo had taken a polygraph. This does not inspire confidence in the family's noninvolvement.
The community has put their heart out for this family and the search for Holly. They have responded in a way I wish every community would respond. They have given wholeheartedly and without reservation, given their time and money and physical and emotional efforts scouring the dense woods for this missing woman. I would hate to think they have been played by either the family or the police. They have the right to know the truth, as much as is known, at this time.
What needs to be done:
- The family and the boyfriends need to take polygraphs.
- The family and boyfriends need to be alibied.
- The family, including the brother, need to step forward and clearly state where everyone was after the last time Holly was seen or heard of from a non-family member (by voice, not text).
- The brother needs to give a clear public description of what he saw at the home, when he saw it, and what he did.
- The 911 calls need to be released to the public.
- A description of the supposed blood spatter needs to be released by the police, including what it is (human or animal) and whose it is (known person's or persons, or stranger's, or known person's and stranger's).
- The police need to clarify exactly what items of Holly's were found and where, and what items of Holly's are missing.
One final note that has really raised eyebrows. The media is reporting that the family is selling T-shirts for twelve dollars each and more than 2500 have been sold so far. The sales are going into The Holly Bobo Fund which is described as monies being saved to give Holly a vacation when she gets home, not a fund to help pay for searches or help victims of abduction and homicide. If this is true, it is one more issue that makes people uncomfortable with the Bobo family's behaviors. Not only is this inappropriate for the family of a victim to collect money that doesn't go toward the cause, but it makes me wonder if this is money being set aside for a defense fund.
If this is a true abduction, the police and the family should have no problem complying with the above list and, furthermore, it could only help, and not damage, the investigation. If the incomplete and erroneous information continues to be all that is offered to the public, no one can blame folks out there for questioning whether the family had something to do with Holly Bobo going missing. At some point, they may simply stop looking for her. That they haven't given up is a testament to good neighbors and a strong community. God bless them all.

1 – 200 of 397 Newer› Newest»Everything you say makes complete sense. I agree that all of the above should be done. I also agree that it's weird how secretive L.E. and the family is being. My thoughts are that there is a specific and good reason that this information is not being released to the public. I believe that most of what you said needs to be done, has been done-- just hasnt been released to the public. This has been going on for 2 weeks now, I'm sure that they have checked the family's alibis, taken polygraphs, got a complete description, etc. There has been plenty of time for that! There is just no way those things have not been checked off the list.
What they are repeating, over and over, is that whoever took Holly is in the area. It makes me believe that they do not want to say too much yet until they are positive that they have their guy.
As for the t-shirt thing... I am guessing that Mrs. Bobo is trying to remain hopeful that her daughter will be found alive. And wants to give Holly an amazing vacation when she gets home-- something they otherwise could not afford.
I wonder if the lunch inside her lunch box was gone,and/or what was inside the lunch box.(there is a reason I'm asking that) and did it have blood on it?
Why didn't her brother see the blood on her when he seen her with the stranger? If there was a struggle I'm sure her hair, and body language would have also gave a sign, why didn't he notice that? Also if there is blood found in the drive and lawn you know she had to scream, any woman would scream and/or a struggle would have took place, why didn't the brother hear or see that? Also what time was it when the neighbor called the police,I heard that it could have been the mother screaming when she found out her daughter was missing, why can't the police just answer that simple question?
Did he take a polygraph test,if so release the results, and the 911 call(s).
I'm in no way saying Clint did it,but general questions like these should be answered to clear him and help the focus be on the abductor, after a while people are going to get tired of the run-a-round and stop looking for Holly because they will lose hope due to no facts or new information coming out of this. People will start to assume things unless something is released and questions are better answered.I would want full focus on my sister and I would have to man up and make a statement and release some info. After so much time passes the ball will bounce back in his court and the people will point fingers at him all the more, which will take eyes off this abductor and onto Clint, unless him and the police give the public some good answers!
NO one is attacking this family, they have to understand how this looks from an outsider, way to many questions some general that would not harm this case if answered...but still nothing.
PS. how creepy is that family spokesman,he is always smiling, sort of eerie!
this article states everything very clearly.
i would like to know when it is typical for 911 calls to be released to the public?
all i know is, that if the t-shirts are being sold for a holly vacation or whatever else holly wants when we find her fund, well, that fund is now competing with raising monies for the reward tip fund. the t-shirt vacation fund is also competing for the money needed to keep the searches going! why would any mother do that? maybe she is not thinking, but, then someone close to her should point that out to her.
and if true that the t-shirt money is for a private family fund, k. bobo sure hit the jackpot in making her son look guilty of SOMETHING! or even making herself and her husband looking guilty of SOMETHING because it looks like they might need that money for a legal defense fund.
maybe the family is short on money to pay their bills while not going to work and this was a less embarrassing way to raise money to help. but i think it is unfair to ask this community to give more money when they have already raised funds and given of their time and continue to emotionally support holly's family. personally i just don't understand taking anything away from the search and reward funds. the number one thing right now is just finding her and bring her back home.

p.s. i just read the post above. i really believe clint needs to make a public statement. take the polygraphs and answer everything to clear the air. let the le an community move on from the family.
Based upon the facts in this case reported via LE I would say Holly knew her perp, the person was familiar with the area and her schedule. since I don't know the time of the 911 call I'm going with brother as lead suspect POI.
Based upon information revealed by by LE it is apparent she knew her abductor, he knew the area well and her schedule. All points lead to really close to home; really close.
Anonymous 1, you would be surprised how many times things you are sure law enforcement has done, actually haven't been done. Television has influenced us to believe that all police departments are top rate and no one drops a stitch. In reality, police departments and detectives are like any other profession; some are extremely competent and experienced and others, not so much. I have worked cases where I found everything done extremely well and then I have done cases where I just stood in the police department staring into the one box of files with my mouth open. I have seen detectives cover every lead and not get tunnel vision and I have seen some jump to a gut conclusion and completely ignored twenty pieces of obvious evidence sitting right in from of them. Once they go the wrong direction, the case goes to hell. I hope this is not the case here and I hope they just have bad communication problems.
As to the Mom and the t-shirt sales, she may be emotionally off her head at the moment and not thinking about what she is doing, but her friends and family out to be there to stop her from doing this inappropriate action. I have not seen families of victims take money from the community to give their missing child a present before.
Anonymous 2, I don't think what is in the lunchbox means TOO much. I would think Holly either had her lunch ready for school OR someone made one and put it in the box to make it look that way. The only thing I can think of that would be of major significance in that is if she was a vegetarian and had bologna sandwiches and a Slim Jim; then one would know it was a staged item and packed by a male.
There are many things about this case that raise eyebrows and unless the family is in league with the PD in some diabolical scheme to flush out a killer (which doesn't really make sense to me), the lack of openness and information is not appropriate. EVEN if the brother were, say, too distraught to function, that is what the spokesperson and PD are for; to clear things up. I have seen case where the family is very available to the media and others where they will talk to no one; both methods are acceptable if the search for the victim or killer is being helped or, at least not harmed, by their visibility. The same can be true for the police; they can clearly state the evidence or they can say we cannot discuss the case, but this weird conflicting information and strange commentary from the police is not right.
Has anyone wondered where Holly's car keys went? If she had her lunchbox in hand and was headed toward her car, shouldn't they have been dropped when she was attacked, or, dropped somewhere? Why has this not been mentioned by the police either?
This blog commentary matches my own perspective on the case so far.
John Walsh, host of America's Most Wanted, said in an interview this weekend with FOX News that AMV is working closely with the sheriff's department. He then went right to the topic of the brother and said that while HE would not say he was a suspect, that Clint was a person of interest because he was the last person to see Holly. He urged Clint and the rest of the Bobo family and close friends, etc., to take polygraph tests to help rule them out as possible suspects involved in Holly's disappearance. If he is familiar with the investigation, his urging Clint Bobo and his family to take polygraphs strongly suggests that they have declined to do so, as of that time.
I've been looking for a clear photo of Clint Bobo in media reports for some time and have yet to see one. Clint has stayed away from the family press conference when his parents spoke to the public and he has not spoken to the media once, despite the entire case of Holly's abduction is based upon his account. What 25-year-old brother would insist on being shielded from the public at a time like this, if he did not have anything to hide?
One thing not mentioned in this blog article is Karen Bobo's behavior at the family press conference. To many of us, her sobbing and sniffling was forced and faked. No tears, but sniffling? Not looking up at the camera or people present? Her behavior did not ring true to me. I had no emotional connection to her (staged) grief, but I cried later on when the sheriff got all choked up and had trouble talking--his emotions seemed genuine.
How could a neighbor hear screaming and make a connection that it might be Holly, suggesting a fairly close proximity to the Bobo household, but Clint Bobo heard nothing?
How could there be blood from Holly or an abductor (if it does belong to one or the other) and Clint Bobo not notice anything unusual in Holly or the alleged abductor's demeanor or body language and not become concerned for his sister?
As you say, if the family will not do everything they can to clarify events and take polygraph tests, they cannot blame the public for suspecting them, when there are so many instances reported by the news of family members falsely claiming abduction of a relative to cover up crimes they've committed.
This is such a strange case. It has been over a week now and nothing? Odd. I would like to believe LE has covered all their bases but as Pat says you cannot always be sure. I too have wondered about the keys. Also why have we not seen the brother anywhere? No public plea's, no pics that can be found on FB etc. Just all too weird. Did Holly have a backpack like most students do? If so where is that? So many questions and few answers. The "vacation" money is very, very weird. If family or LE do not soon start clearing some things up then I'm afraid this could be another Hailey Dunn case..no questions answered and so much scrutiny on the family that people just give up.
I'm not following this case as close as others but I did see the mother's appearance on tv shortly after the story broke. Her expression of deep concern was not convincing; she seemed to be acting and was doing it poorly.
I don't know what happened but I would not be surprised if the family knows and is covering up.
Hello,
The news is reporting that they have found evidence during the search. A quick search of twitter says they have found her cell phone. Maybe that will shed some light on the situation. I guess anything is better than nothing.
There's a new law in TN about not releasing 911 calls - not sure if that applies...
Agree with all you said!
Also - it's never as far as I know been stated what the father does for a living.
Could the abduction have something do with someone wanting to hurt him?
The way the gov. up the reward so quickly, the way other agencies TBI and FBI became so quickly involved has me puzzled.. the way searches began so quickly too.
Now, these are all good things to happen - but adding those to how very little info LE is giving...hmmm
I will strongly disagree that anyone should take a polygraph to clear themselves. Polygraphs are banned from courtrooms for a good reason, they are unreliable. CIA employees and contractors are required to take them, and yet they don't catch all the spies. Aldrich Ames, anyone?
In the case of the Florida girl who was kidnapped by the creep across the street, the family was polygraphed. The grandmother did not pass the polygraph and was immediately labeled a suspect by the media, and likely the entire community. If the Sheriff's investigators had not eventually found the girl dead in the real killer's home, that poor grandmother would have been hounded to her grave by the Sheriff's reporting that the polygraph did not clear her.
John Walsh and everyone else calling for family members to submit to polygraphs should remember, this is the United States of America and not the former Soviet Union.
Adding to what I posted above at 11:27 as an anonymous...
Something that also strikes me odd is (tricky to express this correctly) HB is a very beautiful gal. She must have been born with boyfriends, and looking at her photos I just don't see her going into nursing (no put down to beautiful nurses) but everything about her appearance speaks of her being groomed for something where she can be seen.
I'm not coming to any conclusions as to how this plays into her abduction, just pointing out it's something I noticed.
Is this something a profiler notices as well?
Assuming it was Holly’s blood:
The part that I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around is that the brother saw her walking away from the driveway with the stranger yet, if blood was found on the driveway she must have been bleeding at the time she was walking away from that point.
I find it hard to imagine walking away peacefully after an attack strong enough to make you bleed. Even if the attacker just busted her nose, she would probably be holding her hand to injury to stop the bleeding. If she was walking away like that wouldn’t a sibling notice the distress in her walk?
My biggest questions are. Why are the police not stating if it was her blood or releasing an established time-line. Neither piece of information is indicative as to whom the perpetrator is and release of the information would not hurt the case or the search.
The sheriff was crying on the last broadcast. I think he is too close to the situation to be objectionable. I live just outside of Nashville and these little community’s in TN are close knit with everyone knowing everyone’s business. At the rate this is going I would not be surprised if this turns out that the brother or the brother and someone else close to the family is involved.
It’s disgusting and just plain wrong about the tee-shirt sales. I find it strange that her mother is even thinking of a vacation for her when she returns. I find it hard to believe that she can think of anything other than finding her.
You brought up the car keys, a really good point and other articles could be added to that like books and a purse.
From Parsons to the North or South TN State lines is only about an hour and half either way. If it was 40 minutes later before the brother called 911 she could have been crossing either state line by the time the police were actually at the house getting the info on what happened that morning. I seriously doubt she ran away but I do think more than one person was involved.
This is one of the strangest stories I have ever heard. I would think the police would want to release as much information as possible so that the public may be able to evaluate the facts and perhaps someone would connect the information to a suspect. No matter what happens, someone is definitely covering up some important information for some unknown reason which is almost certainly hindering this investigation.
Just to let folks know, comments are not blocked or removed unless they are an attack on the writer of the post; all opinions are welcome and and to the discussion!
As to Holly as a victim type, she IS the perfect choice for a serial killer; she is small, lightweight, and very pretty. If it weren't for the location of the crime and the brother's confusing story, I would think it was a serial killer. It still COULD be a serial killer but one must start at the crime scene and analyze what is there and what makes the most sense. It may turn out to be massive communication surrounding the odd issues and we may find that Holly was indeed abducted by a stranger. It will be interesting to see what comes out in the next few days.
From what is known at this point, you cannot conclude the brother should have seen blood on her or evidence she was injured by her manner. He is reported to have seen her at or in the edge of the woods. We do not know have far away those woods are from his vantage point.
I can sit here in my house and see woods in all directions. Some of them are far enough away that I could only make out a person, possibly a particular individual I know well, but not anything about that person in detail. Without knowing how far the brother was from Holly at that time, it's all speculation and serves no good.
I agree that Holly's mother's grief at the press conference seemed contrived.
Something about her is just not right.
If we knew the distance from the rear of the house to the woods, we might be able to see how
difficult it is to identify any individual at that distance. I can see the color of clothing when looking back at my nearest neighbor....maybe 5 or so acres away. I could not identify his or her face - and certainly could not give a sketch artist information that would be valuable to this investigation.
I think Holly's long blonde hair is what one would see from that distance, along with the camouflage clothing.
Did Holly have a facebook account? If so, did she have security settings on her account or did she make her pictures public? She is a beautiful girl and is it possible someone would have stalked her through a social network?

This is really fishy. This family already looks loaded with money no matter what their jobs are(they seem like wealthy people who just have jobs so they aren't bored with their life) + they are also related to a wealthy Hollywood country star(Whitney Duncan)who seems to hang with the family a lot(no bad blood or anything). Why would they need any money from the public for a "Vacation" for her/ or a fund raise for any info leading to her?
if this is true very concerning I think.
There are small amounts of blood outside the house? Drops or spatter? Family members don't want to take a polygraph and I can't blame them, but would they hand over cell phone records? Holly's 25 year-old brother saw her either being "dragged" or "led" into woods by either a "200lb. man in camo" or "her boyfriend" and didn't even call to her, for no reason in particular, but just that at 7:00am when she normally leaves for school she's heading into the woods??? If it were me, I would ask her if her car wasn't starting or something...Most nursing programs have pretty strict attendance requirements and it is odd that she would risk dismissal from her nursing program. Her brother didn't think that was questionable? And this abduction occurred during a home invasion that turned out not to be a home invasion???
The brother reports that he saw Holly going into the woods, 40 minutes later he reports finding her car still at home and blood at the scene. He reports calling 911 at that time. When law enforcement arrived at the home, did anyone check his vehicle- simply put their hand on the hood of the car- to see if it was warm? If he states he did not leave the home that morning, and IF the vehicle was warm, it would make his story come into question.
The mother's behavior at the press conference immediately brought back memories of Susan Smith after her babies drowned.
I haven't seen very much about this case. I cannot comprehend the whole vacation fund. I am pretty sure I have never heard this before anywhere in another case and I am sure other parents wanted their children returned just as badly . The more info that is given to the public the netter I always though . Thank you for the spot on analyisis as usualt Ms. Brown
If I were in the immediate Bobo family there is no way I would take a polygraph or allow my family to take one. A false positive would likely cause the mis-direction of resources.
Of course I would be believing in my own innocence and the innocence of my family and I would be outraged at any waste of time not tracking the evidence being found in the case.
Sure statistically the family is usually involved, but evidence is being found. Follow the evidence to where it leads. Don't follow statistics and try to prove a theory. Follow evidence to its conclusion.
Why not more media exposure by the family. Simply put it doesn't help. It detracts as people start pushing unfounded (except statistically) theories. I would keep quiet as a family member unless I deemed some information I had was being mishandled by the folks running the investigation. There is nothing to be gained by talking to the media. The media are terribly exploitive and would like nothing better than to put the brother in some speculative scandal spotlight to drive ratings. This would hinder the search.
The investigators are very tight-lipped. Well I dont completely understand this, but again as a matter of policy I would likely take this tact to "manage" the media trying not to hinder the opportunities that come from media exposure with the natural desire for dramatization/speculation. Give them just enough to keep them exposing the case, but not enough to let them affect the direction.
The selling of the t-shirts seems tacky, but I come from the country. I can see several ways in which someone may suggest this to the mother and she would just go along with it as a good faith gesture. Under these circumstances who cares what people think. If I put myself in the mother's shoes I can imagine I'm just emotionally in survival mode.
I don't care if the mother seemed sincere on tv or anything else about the family's affect. I'm going to give them the presumtion of innocense and the empathy they deserve until evidence proves otherwise.
If the search keeps producing clues and the investigation continues it is likely the truth will come forth. I'll reserve my judgement until then. One thing this has over many other cases is the investigation started pretty quickly and at a large scale. Many of these cases don't gain traction until long after the crime began and often they dont get these many resources. I'm hopeful that some resonable conclusion will come about...
You would think the first thing the mother would want to do for her daughter upon her safe return is to get her some much needed counselling...not a holiday...Also just out of interest sake why did it take Heather Sullivan over a week to mention her attack when she thought it could be the same guy who tried to abduct her? ...if I was the last to see my sister alive I would be overwhelmed with guilt as to what I could have done differently....yet not even a public appeal from Clint for her safe return...I dont like to jump to conclusions but I really do find the whole story odd,..
If I were in the immediate Bobo family there is no way I would take a polygraph or allow my family to take one. A false positive would likely cause the mis-direction of resources.

Many of these cases don't gain traction until long after the crime began and often they dont get these many resources. I'm hopeful that some resonable conclusion will come about...
On your own link it says that the t-shirts are being sold for reward money.
Strange you mention posts arent usually discriminated against, but I posted twice both anonymously and as a signed in user several hours ago but the post has not appeared. No other posts have appeared since then. Logically Im guessing something is broken :(
A lot of the confusion was caused by the media's initial reports. FYI, a number of women and girls have disappeared or been found murdered within about a 35 mile radius of where she lived since the 1990s. There is also a person in jail in Jackson, TN who was arrested for stalking two 19-year old coeds three days after Holly disappeared (the stalkings were before.)He is from less than 20 miles from the Bobo home but was arrested for stalking in Jackson, some 40 miles away. All law enforcement has said is that he is "not connected." While the area is not "rugged" in the sense of mountainous, there are thousands of acres of woods, much of which is covered by thick Kudzu vines. The Tennessee River's Kentucky Lake lies not far to the east and there are lakes and ponds all over the place.
Pat, would your list of things that need to be done be different if LE already knows who most likely did this and instead are looking for, in addition to Holly, evidence to get a search warrant to search property they haven't yet been allowed to search?
Many rumors around that there is a local, moneyed, connected family that will not allow any searches and they have a lawyer, maybe even in the family.
What if they need to gather probable cause or evidence to get that warrant, not to figure out the perp?
There are many rumors online that Holly had two ex boyfriends. One fairly current one and one going back further that she tried to get a restraining order on. Let's call him ex #2. If #2 is still a minor, still in HS and his family has a lawyer and won't let them search, they may be much more interested in that than trying to identify the perp.
They haven't even said the time of the 911 calls and asked people to try to remember anything they may have seen on the roads at that time. How could the times of the calls hamper the case in any way? But, it won't help if they know who it is.
I too have been thrown by the lack of any info online about Clint Bobo. No pics, nothing about any job or school. Way too vague. But doesn't mean he is guilty of anything.
I have also been struck by how out of place Holly seems in that area. She does look like someone that had hopes of a career in the public eye. A very well done and expensive hair coloring job, almost professional level of makeup in every single picture I have seen of her. Yet, she was planning on continuing to pursue her career in nursing. She literally glows she is so pretty and well groomed, only to be surrounded by guys in camo, ATVs, and no other interests other than hunting and killing things and sports. If this is a case of someone wanting her and not being able to have her, I can sure see that pushing him over the edge having to see her all the time. She appears to be that special looking and all say had a personality to match.
I am also another one not convinced by the mother when she spoke on camera. Again, doesn't make her guilty, but something didn't sit well with me.
Does anyone know if the Clint was going to college and not living at home, but staying the night sometimes? Is his arm in a cast from a recent injury?
Also want to mention the 'carport' is a structure at the back edge of the property, not the garage. That is were she parked her car. Clint was said to have seen them out the back window.
Bugs me too that so few of Holly's many local friends on Facebook don't even have her picture up and say nothing. For such a small, close knit community that seems odd.
Just a comment about your link for the t-shirt sales. Your link is directed to a news story that says the proceeds are going to cover the reward that the family is offering (& any money left will go to the family). It doesn't say anything about a vacation fund.
All the speculation is just that; obviously the TBI is withholding all relevant information and should. Everyone seems to have very short memories, and have all forgotten the Elizabeth Smart Case. She was missing for 9 months, then found alive. If you don't know this area, you wouldn't understand how easy it would be for a trained survivalist to hide; the area is surrounded by both State and National Wilderness areas. She's someones love obsession and he is hiding , thats my theory. It's spring now and there is hundreds of of square miles of local forest and hidden caves. Please, the family has been cleared; and it wasn't a lunch box, it was a lunch bag. This whole thing is fueled by media speculation.
I want to know why she's been classified as an Amber Alert when she's not under 18. That's rather strange and makes me wonder about the police's skill level.
I want to apologize to all that were frustrated that their comments weren't being published! I got an email or two and I told folks that we don't moderate the comments and they go up immediately, but I found out that the moderation button HAD been accidentally deployed! So sorry! I just hit the PUBLISH button for all comments and I hope that doesn't happen again!
To the question about how law enforcement is handling things, that perhaps they are saying certain things because they know stuff and we just don't know what they know.
I just did Nancy Grace last night and I was on with Lt. Chris Perley of the Conway, New Hampshire Police deparment discussing the disappearance of Krista Dittmeyer whose car was found abandoned with her baby in it. He did a fabulous job communicating to the public. He gave quite a lot of information (that she left home of her own free will, the last time she was seen, the last time she made a phone call, that personal items of hers were found in the car, that the car was running, that the door was ajar and the light on, that the baby was okay. We heard that she had friends in Conway but he could give us no more information on who she might have been going to see, we found out the baby daddy was far out of that state so he couldn't be involved, we learned another car had been seized along with hers. He also said a number of times he could not discuss a particular aspect of the case. At NO time, did he give conflicting and confusing information. This is how it should be done and this is what TN has not done. Give as much information as you can clearly and what specific things you can't talk about (and only for a damn good reason) say you can't talk about it.
Actually, Anonymous, I don't find the brother's story to be totally wrong. I can easily see how he might have glanced out a window and seen Holly strolling with her boyfriend towards the woods and thought nothing of it. He is twenty-five, not expecting her to be kidnapped, and, hey, he is a young guy, so he may just be, ya know, a kid, basically.
My concern is the changing stories (if they are changing and not LE or media screwing it all up), Clint's complete seclusion from the press, and the bizarre statements made by the police.
I think we do have to remember that behavior we think is odd, while it is a red flag to investigators, profilers, and the all citizens to ask more questions, it doesn't mean that the behavior in itself is proof of anything. Sometimes people just don't think or do and say dumb stuff. It is the TOTALITY of the evidence that is important and the evidence at the end of the day that closes a case.
Also just curious as to why there has been no mention of Holly's sister's where abouts! I would think the whole family would be in front of the camera supporting one another and pleaing for Holly to come home etc.. I thought from the beginning that perhaps Clint might have been disabled and that's why he didn't run out after Holly and the abductor but if that was the case I would think that would be information freely provided by the news etc..
Does anyone know why the 9111 calls haven't been released yet?
^I'm thesame anon-opps, 911, sorry!
ANDIE SAYS..........
WHY........... WOULD THE BROTHER JUST "WATCH?!!!!" HIS SISTER BE LED AWAY FROM HER CAR, AND INTO THE WOODS, OH THAT'S RIGHT, 1ST STORY WAS BEING DRAGGED?!!! GOOD LORD!!!! SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON HER WAY TO SCHOOL, IN HER CAR, CORRECT? ARE YOU TELLING ME A LOVING BROTHER WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RUSH OUTSIDE TO SEE WHAT THE HAY WAS GOING ON, OR IF HE WAS AFRAID HIMSELF, AT THE VERY LEAST SCREAM OUT THE WINDOW OR DOOR AS HE WAS CALLING 911!!! {HE WAS NOT ALARMED UNTIL HE SAW BLOOD OUTSIDE, 45!!!! MINUTES LATER??? AND ONLY THEN!!! HE CALLED 911!!} THIS IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR? DOES THE BOYFRIEND NORMALY LEAD HOLLY INTO THE WOODS WHEN SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON HER WAY TO SCHOOL? I AM SO SORRY IF THE BROTHER IS INNOCENT, BUT COME ON, IF THIS IS THE WRONG STORY THE MEDIA HAS RELEASED, IT SHOULD BE CHANGED TO CLEAR HIM..... THE WAY IT LOOKS TO ME.... WELL ENOUGH SAID.... WAY TOOOO SAD FOR WORDS.... PRAYING SHE TURNS UP SOON SAFE AND SOUND....

Anon., I didn't know that Holly had a sister. Where have you seen mention of her having one?
I've read she has a cousin, Natalie Bobo. On her facebook page, one of Holly's friends is Jana Bobo Burrow who lives in Lexington, TN. Is she who you are referring to? Is she a sister or cousin of Holly's?
http://www.facebook.com/people/Jana-Bobo-Burrow/100001636454104
There is currently a bill before the State of Tennessee legislature that would allow the media access to 911 calls (for informational purposes) but that the media would not be able to broadcast them without the permission of the 911 caller or the courts, and thereby protect the privacy (and possible safety and anonymity) of the 911 caller.
You can read more in this April 9, 2011, article in the Tennessean, titled "Bill would allow access to 911 Calls [my note--by the media], but prevent TV broadcast:
http://www.tennessean.com/article/D4/20110409/NEWS01/104080333/Bill-would-allow-access-911-calls-prevent-TV-broadcast
I expect that this measure has not yet been passed or made into law yet, based on the recent date of the article.
Does anyone know what the current laws are regarding the release of 911 calls to the public?
Various stories not dovetailing...go to the family. I think they have the answer.
I just think that all of this situation is so very sad, some things make sense, some things dont.I would pray that for all of the searchers and people who have been involved with this search for Holly, that this doesnt turn out to be something that would hurt the people who have searched for this girl. There are people who have set aside their time to go help find her,to find out the family would have covered up anything would be so disrespectful to all who have helped in trying to find her.Not saying that the family is guilty, just that it would be sad for everyone involved. This whole investigation has been a little stinky.I however am praying for Holly's return of safety. You do have some really good points though, especially about the keys, and that is terrible about the t shirts fund,if it is so,and as for the mothers appearance at the press conference or whatever it was,she was not very convincing to me as well,it just looked so made up and forced out, kinda like a bad actor, however no one reacts the same and we are all different in our own ways.Praying for Holly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so many unanswered questions , and i think who ever has her is enjoying this greatly. where are her keys , her cell phone , her purse, too many things not answered and why did the cadaver dogs not pick up her scent at the woods where she was suppose to be taken, and how did her lunch bag get 8 miles in the woods and why did the brother wait so long to call 911 . why didn't he go see about her if he thought she was in danger????????????? to many unanswered questions , and is all the family helping search or showing up everyday .
one thing that needs correcting.. Holly's family is NOT the one's selling the t-shirts. local shops in the area are selling the t-shirts & putting the money in a fund for Holly.
I live in the neighboring county from Holly & actually went to high school with her & her brother. this family is extremely close & some of the nicest people i've ever met.. so i do not for a second think any of them were involved with her disappearance.
although i agree there are alot of unanswered questions & the whole thing seems odd. i think it is important to remember that news stations are NOT reporting exact & confirmed (by the TBI) facts, they also talk to local people who are not involved in the case & honestly don't know what they're talking about 90% of the time. so the fact that the story changed a few times is honestly not surprising to me, if you live in a small town, you'd understand why.
i've heard (literally) DOZENS of stories, & each person i hear a new story from, SWEARS it's true & most say they actually spoke to the TBI &/or FBI....& they really expect you to believe that?..
so everyone NOT from a small, southern town should take this into consideration. -- all people have to do here, is TALK.. so yes, it could be very easy for the media to get facts twisted & changed DAILY, if they are not speaking directly with the TBI.
and one more thing.. before you talk about the family, you should really think about your own family first.. what if is was your daughter, sister, or mother? so i think until this case is solved, everyone should keep their opinions about the family to themselves. they are seriously hurting right now, & hearing/seeing these awful things about them only cut deeper. & you honestly wouldn't know how you would react in this situation until you're in it yourself.
as my mother always says.. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.
PRAYING FOR HOLLY SAFE RETURN!
Personally, I believe that law enforcement has a pretty good idea who is responsible and are in the process of building a case, which they can't do until she is either found alive or her body is found. Still, on the other hand literally hundreds of women and teenage girls go missing every years and a large percentage are never found. She's been missing now for almost two weeks, and I personally doubt that someone has hidden her away somewhere. The search effort has been hampered by severe weather and will continue to be for at least another day and possibly two.
I disagree with the statement that everyone involved "should take polygraphs." Polygraphs have been proven to be unreliable, with the "results" based solely on the judgement of the "operator." They are considered to be pseudoscience by the scientific community. It's only polygraphers themselves who believe in their "accuracy." I have personally taken polygraph tests and know exactly how they work. You might as well flip a coin and say "heads - lying", "tails - not lying."
Yes. We should think before we speak, and perhaps the family is totally innocent. But here's a problem. LE says Holly was led off "in fear for her life" while the brother said he thought she was with her boyfriend, and so suspected nothing at first. Which is it? Both cannot fly at the same time.
What if the "stranger/maybe boyfriend in camo" is not true? Certain things start to not seem so weird. IE mother's performance at presser. Changing statements about what happened. No trail for dogs in the woods. Scattered belongings.
Maybe Holly died the evening before or that night. Maybe you then hide the body, then scatter her things to take the focus away from the home... If it were an abduction, who kidnaps somebody and scatters the person's belongings? Anybody?? What is the purpose of that? It makes no sense. I personally would incinerate the lot all at once somewhere, leaving no trace. The scattered stuff has to be deliberate, and intended to draw attention. Why?
And why isn't the brother out there trying to make it right after missing such a huge, huge moment to save her? Ok he feels bad, but why isn't he out there begging for Holly's return? Just some common sense questions.
Yes, I suppose it could be some pervert who happened to be in that out-of-the-way neighborhood at just the moment that Holly came out to go to school. Grabbed her. Could be. What are the odds??? OR, somebody from the town wants her. Watches her. Waits and plans an elaborate kidnapping. But everybody knows everybody. And nobody has a clue??? OR. It could be that it is just your garden-variety domestic mess that the family are desperately trying to hide. I don't want to believe this, who does? But it trips the mind on the the fewest bumps in reasoning.
Alright, I'm the last 'annonymous' to post, and I feel a bit awful that I am pointing fingers at the family. I don't know any of this to be true. Maybe they are 100% innocent. I hope so. I hope Holly is found in a cave somewhere being kept and fed by a trio of teenage boys who adore her. If it were my brother who had seen me led away, he might actually shrink down to a quivering mass unable to speak for weeks. So I can't say that Clint is to blame in any way. I don't know him. I was just looking at the odds and the oddity of the conflicting statements, and the scattered evidence, etc. Just a theory, but maybe we shouldn't be positing such things without any real evidence. There are real people involved. Easy to forget.
Pat,
I just want to say that this is the "best" commentary that I have read on this case since Holly went missing a couple of weeks ago.
You brought up some great points !
LE in Tennessee needs to read this !
Hope
I do not want to burden the Bobo family in the least with what I am about to say. But let me say this-my own sister was almost kidnapped 2 years ago at Christmas time in broad daylight in the Kohl's parking lot. A woman sitting in her car, a complete stranger, was watching this transpire and stepped in and saved her life. She claimed it was "mother's intuition". Call it what you will, but it was a miracle to me. So here's where I have to bring it home...a complete stranger that didn't even know my sister put her own neck on the line to save my sister, and Holly's brother watched from a window? I'm sorry, but I can't swallow this, let alone let my mind believe this.
Pat,
I just posted and am posting again after your reading your comment about Holly's "keys".
Yes, the keys probably should have been dropped somewhere -- especially if she was carrying her lunch box, purse, maybe school books in a backpack -- when she was "attacked" or "led into the woods".
Also, since most vehicles today are equipped with "auto alarms", I wonder if Holly's vehicle has an alarm ? It appears from the photos we have seen that this is a "country" rural area, and maybe no need for setting auto alarms since maybe the area does not have a high crime rate ?
I live in an area "rampant" with crime and auto theft ... so I have a "habit" of always having my car key out and remote for the alarm ready when I leave a place and head to the car. I never get to the car and dig in my purse for the keys -- too risky ! And setting the car alarm is a "habit" as well.
Again, your commentary is one of the best I have read on this case.
Please keep up us updated if any new information is revealed by LE or the family.
Have a nice evening.
Hope
"The way the gov. up the reward so quickly, the way other agencies TBI and FBI became so quickly involved has me puzzled.. the way searches began so quickly too.
Now, these are all good things to happen - but adding those to how very little info LE is giving...hmmm "
I am convinced that it is a serial killer and law enforcement has known this since nearly the beginning. The family will be cleared.
THE FATHER'S OCCUPATION HAS NEVER BEEN DISCLOSED..... COULD IT BE A VENDETTA AGAINST HIM?" OR POSSIBLEY, AS AWFUL AS SOMEONE SUGGESTED, A DOMESTIC WITHIN THE FAMILY?
HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.....
AND IT IS HER MOTHER WHO PUT TOGETHER THE T`SHIRT SELLING, AS SHE WAS QUOTED SAYING... " A FUND FOR WHEN HOLLY GETS HOME, AS SHE WILL NEED A VACATION AFTER ALL THIS"
WAAAAAAAAAAY TOO ODD....
HOPING AND PRAYING FOR HOLLY'S BLESSED RETURN...
....AND IF THE FAMILY TAKES THE TIME TO READ ALL THESE RANDOM POSTS? WELL THEN.......
ENOUGH SAID....
About the fund...This what Whiteny Duncan said about it on her twitter account
Link here:http://twitter.com/#!/whitneyduncan
1st one- Whitney Duncan
To clear up a rumor: no money is going toward a vacation for anyone at anytime. No one in this family cares about a vacation!
2nd one-Whitney Duncan
@whitneyduncan Whitney Duncan
Yes. She just meant the money is Holly's for whatever she wants to do w it. RT @OnlyPrettier1: do u speak for everyone in the family
--------------------
That's still suspicious. They are already rich/ Whitney Duncan is extremely rich Hollywood girl. why would they need MORE money for her like that anyway? Why not help donate money to search and rescue people....
I also wish they would release the 911 call and what the father's so-called job was. Did he owe debt? lose money? tick someone off??etc
ALTHOUGH WHITNEY DUNCAN IS JUST ANOTHER COUNTRY SINGER TRYING TO MAKE IT, AND I'M SURE NOT RICH, SHE SHOULD HAVE ENOUGH COMMON SENSE BEING IN THE PUBLIC EYE TO KNOW THE PUBLIC CAN BE IDIOTS AND POST RANDOM, HURTFUL THINGS....
WHY PUT SO MUCH EFFORT INTO READING THE CRAP PEOPLE POST AND RESPONDING TO IT? THEY HAVE A MISSING LOVED ONE, STOP RESPONDING TO IDIOTS ON THE INTERNET, AND SELLING T SHIRTS AND CONCENTRATE ON FINDING HOLLY!!!!
as i already stated.. Holly's mother did NOT put together the t-shirt selling. if you want to check it out, go to amerwear.com it is a local shop making the shirts & selling them & then donating the money to the family which is going into a fund for Holly to do what she choses with once she's brought home safe. you should really check you facts before you start posting. ALSO, the dogs DID pick up a scent at the Bobo residents which led into the wood behind the home to a logging trail & then stopped (which means she was put into a vehicle). everyone who hasn't been following this case from DAY ONE should really go back & read ALL the news reports before posting hurtful things on here for anyone & everyone to see..
and fyi, this family is not rich. yes, they are better off than some. but by no means are they "rich". & people shouldn't assume that. especially since now they are not working at this time of tragedy in their family. & Whitney Duncan is not exactly rich either.. she's not a huge, famous country music singer.. she's had a few songs that were hits... but i don't think i've heard anything from her in years. so to say she is "extremely rich" is not true.
PAT BROWN'S ARTICLE WAS VERY, VERY GOOD AND RAISED ALL POINTS AND POSSIBILITIES, PERHAPS ALL THESE OTHER POSTS SHOULD BE ERASED? NOTHING BUT MINDLESS BANTER AND SPECULATION, IN MY OPINION.....
PAT?
HOPE AND PRAY THEY GET TO THE BOTTOM OF IT SOON, WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS HORRIFIC HAPPENING.... STILL PRAYING FOR A HAPPY ENDING FOR THEM ALL.....
Missy, where did you read that the dogs picked up a scent going into the woods behind the house? I've read pretty much everything on this case, and found the opposite. Was it an early report? Link?
I was also thinking the keys statement was a good one...then it dawned on me (I also live in a rural) and I (not now after this) but up until this, frequently, left my keys IN my car, not locking it or anything....
Also, @ Jolie, I believe Holly has a 13yr. old sister...I had read that, and then I did see a picture, I believe on one of the cbs articles of the two of them....
I could be wrong...but I believe Hollys dad works in real-estate...I also read somewhere that the "significant item" they found @ the old factory, was down the road from his office....
There is ALOT out there on this case...seems to be all second and third hand, as well as my statement...I've read SO much on this, I could not even tell you where I read this...but I did somewhere, so take it for what it's worth...
Thanks, Anon. 04/27/11 at 3:12, about the info. of Holly having a 13-year old sister. Wouldn't the sister have still been at home at 7:30 am or have just left for school? Why no mention in the media of her daily routine, if she were part of the household? If she were home, wouldn't the police and media be reporting what, if anything, she was aware of during the alleged time of abduction?
I will do more searching on CBS's website to see if I can find mention/photos of the sister.
Thanks, again.
Tree trimming is his business. Self-employed. Mom's a school teacher.
I am a PI that has been working on a case inside Decatur County since 2006 in regard to ANOTHER death ruled as natural that was "killed" in 2005 and it has political coverup written all over it. I have hard core evidence to my statements. My 1st suggestion would be that ALL of the LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT there also submit to a polygraph. The outside public don't have one clue as to how corrupt these "badge toters" are there. I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe that they weren't involved in the whole thing. It is nothing, in this area of drug cartels to take a human being for a payment owed them for drugs. One of my 1st cases there involved a young man being taken hostage over his drug debt. Now, let me clarify, in no way am I saying this young lady was parlaying into drugs, but so much evasive actions from the local LE and the brother made me take another approach. What if the brother had a small little drug use history? These people will "spot" you a few and then come to collect payment. The lure of it, if you will. Also, you have to understand that there is VERY little in this town to support what you visibly will come to see there; palatial homes, airplanes and million dollar homes on the bluffs of the TN River. That money IS coming from somewhere. Not all of it, but some is from drug trafficking. It's a well thought out and orchestrated plan, from the bottom to top. I have a relative in CID in TN that even got brazen enough to state that this invisible neighbor that placed the 911 call phoned HIS cell phone 1st when the scream was heard. My relative resides 45 miles away and they call him? He even goes further, he mentions a flat bed truck with OK plates and it had some form of container on it's bed (was this big enough to place Holly in it?) Why is a member of the CID telling at least 4 of my family members this information? I reported this to the TBI. If this scenario is real, then the blood on the carport and across the yard could have stopped with her being placed into the container. This would answer why the dogs DID NOT make a hit or pick up her scent going off into the woods. The local law there use their badges to intimidate the private citizens and they are NOT what they appear on camera. FACT! Most of the private citizens don't know what I have come to learn about them. Most live in fear of them and won't talk. This is why you won't get much from them other than saying it's a "crime free" area (as I gag.) Mr Bobo is the owner to a Tree Cutting Service there and the area spoken about is not from his business. It did appear odd to me that the public had been told that they were going to pull back starting the 25th if nothing else was found. Then on Easter Sunday, a piece of evidence shows up. Manna from heaven or put there on purpose to hold attention to the case. These are all "just my opinions," but the young lady was an innocent bystander to something that she either witnessed (more to that part of the story) or was a drug debt owed and was this an intimidation or rouse to make it appear as something else? As a parent, I want this young lady to come home to her family and live in peace, but peace is NOT was Decatur County is about. Another FACT!
A follow-up to my last post, directed to Missy
Correction: The name of the Bobo family friend that helped Karen Bobo design the Holly Bobo t-shirt is D'Lynn BURTON, not Berson. I should have taken my own advice and checked her last name in the news article instead of relying on my memory, before posting my earlier comment.
Here are the articles in the news that state the Bobo family was directly responsible for creating and having the t-shirts printed up for sale and would use (some) of the proceeds for the family's use (for Holly personally).

"Holly Bobo: Search Update" published 04/24/11 by WREG-TV (Memphis, TN - CBS affiliate)

I'm a bit confused by the search areas. It seems the volunteers were initially searching a distance from the home, and weren't brought in to search close to the home until the last couple of days of the search. That seems sort of backwards to me....is that normal?
Theresa Tibbs,
If what you are thinking may have happened to Holly Bobo, did happen, what are the chances that she is still alive?
Is there anything worse than corrupt law enforcement?
If your information is accurate, and local LE is involved in some way, there is little chance of whatever happened to Holly Bobo becoming public knowledge, I think.
to Missy (and to Anon. who asked Missy to provide a source to back up her statement about the dogs picking up a scent)
According to Mark Fuhrman, former LAPD homicide detective, who was recently speaking with Geraldo Rivera on Geraldo at Large about the Holly Bobo case, he has talked to the TBI dispatcher and someone in the sheriff's department. He said, "When I called Tennessee, I also found out that the dogs DID NOT SCENT anything in that tree line where they [Holly and alleged abductor] supposedly entered."
He also said there has been no confirmation (made public) that the parents ever saw Holly the morning of April 13 and it is unknown (to the public) when the last time anyone in the family other than Clint Bobo saw Holly. If he was the only one to see her that morning, it's possible that something happened to her much earlier than what Clint Bobo reported.

I have to wonder, Missy, if you are here to specifcally plant false information about the Holly Bobo case (whatever your motivation), or if you honestly made those mistakes about the t-shirts and the dogs scenting, and possibly more).
I'm trying very hard to get a novel, but our case goes way back into history of this "beloved" area. A local radio host has been bold enough to make a statement on FB that TBI would probably come forward in a couple of days to make their official statement in regards to Ms. Holly. I have been screaming all the way to the White House in regards to the political corruption in this county. This young lady's disappearance has brought national attention to this area. Is this a Oxy-Moron? I would have never wished harm to an innocent victim to get the proper authorities in on this bunch. This local LE mislocate or simply state that they can't find something. Either way, they're a joke. The only thing worse than them being corrupt is the fact that it goes even deeper with banks, attorney's AND judges and the illustrious "backroom deals" that they spin out. As a PI, I have been anything BUT private in regards to their behaviors there. It has to become a book. I just don't know how.
BTW, I would like to state, that in my heart of hearts, I pray this lady alive. Statements have been made for a while now that she was found and inside a hospital. I don't know this, but it would be good news wouldn't it. We need some good news with so much bad lurking about. The way they cover their tracks is that "dead men tell no tales." Scattered evidence over MILES of different terrain. To throw folks off, is my presumption. It took more than one person to concoct this scheme up.
Is LE allowed to search the Bobo home at this point, or do they have to have a warrant and some good reason to look? Is a missing person reason enough? I just read over on Websleuths that the family and persons close to them are having palm and fingerprints taken. Are they trying to tie the scattered belongings to someone in order to issue a warrant??
I was wondering the same, buy why wouldn't the BoBo's ask/tell them, that it was okay to look there and to please look around there as that is where she was taken from?!
maybe clint sold his sister as a sex slave to pay off a drug debt?!!!!!
I think I'm going to stop being 'anonymous' so I don't get confused with other anonymous posters and perhaps thought a dunce. I will return with a name.....
Correction to the statement that Mr Bobo owned the trimming tree service,,he is an employee there. The business is owned my Dennis McKenzie..His wife Karen Bobo is a school teacher at Scotts Hill School.
Here is the Bobo tree trimming business:

Same as home address. Is it part of the McKenzie business? I read he was self-employed.

Sorry...try this?

Why hasn't the family made any more pleas for their daughter to be returned? Usually the family does it a lot within the first few weeks and even many months after? She's been missing for almost a week and a half and they've only had one press plea. Their silence concerns me(especially when people thought it was weird that the mother had no tears at all when crying, and something I noticed as well during it that drew my attention of suspecion was when the mom was trying to sniff snot up her nose(she was apparently crying so her nose was runny)it sounded like nothing was in there to sniff up) I think it's even worse the only one who seems to be talking(Whitney on Twitter) gets mad about the rumors/people accusing her cousin/etc and says things out of frustration at the heat of the moment. Does she not know she could say something that could screw the case up with her big mouth?
http://www.wsmv.com/news/27708018/detail.html
Hehehe...Investigators are looking at cases that are 20 to 30 years old; what, was camouflage man using a walker when he "led" Holly Bobo into the woods?
Actually, I would want them to review all possibilities and not get tunnel vision; it just struck me as a funny update to the case.
Nice touch, Pat Brown - you know sixty is the new forty, though. Somebody knows something. The most curious thing to me is the lack of information from LE. If they think this is a predator, they need to warn the public. Yes? Where is the description of who we are supposed to keep a lookout for??? Nothing adds up in this case. Why was Holly's stuff scattered hither and yon? Hmmm? Perps don't do that, that would be stupid. Perps hide. It's a false trail of some sort, not sure what sort. I feel bamboozled.
I am getting a name for posting. I was previously "anonymous" along with all the other anonymous and interchangeable posters. I fancy myself more individual than that. So from now on, I'm "Chesster."
THAT IS ABSURD, PAT...... A WALKER? OR MAYBE HOLLY WAS PUSHING HIM IN A WHEELCHAIR AS HE HELD A KNIFE TO HER THROAT? DOES LE IN TN HAVE SAWDUST FOR BRAINS? IT IS BEGINNING.... NO, CORRECT THAT, IT HAS ALWAYS.... APPEARED THAT WAY........ VERY SAD........... HOLLY DOES NOT HAVE A CHANCE, NEVER DID, WITH BOZOS LIKE THIS IN LE.....
Actually, I was just joshing a bit. In reality, a serial killer could still be active in his forties and fifties, so IF there were a serial offender who took Holly, he could have committed a crime decades ago.
But, LE has not exactly been vocal to the public about trying to save Holly from this man she supposedly is with, so the concept of searching out predators in the area doesn't exactly ring sincere to me.
What kills me is the emotions the local people have when questions are asked about the family. Where is missy now to defend her states about the shirts now that someone else posted quotes about the shirts? Why can't they release if it is her blood that was found, the alleged cellphone (that I believe was planted anyway), and release the 911 calls. Rumors that she was found came out last week and LE has not had any press conferences since then and locals were following tweets of a local new anchor whose tweets have almost been slient since then also except for weather alerts, it just is getting frustrating that the public is not being informed of anything.

Oh no, Please don't let this be a "We just a let a prisoner out on early release, and look what he did upon getting out" kinda case where are justice system fails.
Anon, they are checking out unsolved cases with no known offender, but you have a good point. Sometimes a guy gets out early for "good behavior" and a day later is a bad boy again; what a surprise (not). They need to check on recently released ex-felons in the area, sex predators, and, of course, the last person who saw the victim.
Like all of us wish I truly hope she is found alive and so I want to keep thinking postive until we know more....but I just find it an odd statement for her mother to talk about a "vacation" that Holly would need after all this?,....she talks like knows holly is alive and coming home as though its not even a second thought that she wont...I know shes probably trying to stay positive too...but its still seems an odd thing to say does she know something we dont?..like where holly is and that she is alive...is it just me who thinks this?....
I AM SORRY, BUT IT IS WAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO GUTSY FOR SOMEONE TO JUST WALK UP TO THIS SECLUDED HOUSE AND SUPPOSEDLY "LEAD" OR "DRAG" HOLLY THROUGH THE WOODS....IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.... IN FULL VIEW OF THE HOUSE.....JUST IN MY OPINION, IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN SOMEONE VERY, VERY CLOSE TO HER AND THE ENTIRE FAMILY.... AGAIN, PRAYING FOR HOLLY AND HER FAMILY.... CANNOT IMAGINE THE AGONY.... UNFATHOMABLE....
This whole missing person incident has been as fishy as a 10 day old dead carp...
I THINK THE BROTHER IS INVOLVED. HURTFUL OR NOT, BUCK UP CLINT, AND IF YOU ARE SO INNOCENT, WHY ARE YOU NOT COMBING THE COUNTRYSIDE FOR YOUR SISTER, AND ~~~~~WHY~~~~~~ ARE YOU HIDING YOUR FACE FROM THE MEDIA? I FEEL FOR MOM AND DAD..... THEY MUST BE HURTING IMMENSELY.... SO SAD.........
OH... AND WHITNEY DUNCAN? STICK TO SINGING!!! YOU WOULD MAKE A REALLY POOR PI!!!! REALLY, REALLY TACKY HOW YOU TOLD PEOPLE TO "SHUT UP" WHEN THEY QUESTIONED CLINT.... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? LOOK AT THE "FACTS" THE MEDIA HAS RELEASED..... WONDER HOW SHE IS GOING TO REACT IF HE TURNS OUT TO BE INVOLVED? CAN WE SAY EGG ON OUR FACE?
Okay, let me just say this one thing and then I'm going to just quit following this case all together because I'm so frustrated. The reason why the LE is keeping this so close to the vest is probably because they ran such a crummy investigation on the alleged crime scene. WHICH they don't even know is the actual crime scene, they are just taking Clint's word for it b/c well, we all know what a factual person he is. He never changes his story, or gets a lawyer right after his sister goes missing. Because he's a good old TN boy and he just wouldn't do anything wrong. Oh please. For the love of God and all that is holy, how naive can a person be?! No one knows what actually happened, and how does the LE know that the alleged crime scene wasn't staged to make it align with Clint's story? Duh!!!! Anyone can create a story and then a scene to match with it. A 5 year old can draw a picture and then tell you a story to make it match. It's just embarrassing, really.
Secondly, I would like to personally thank LE for doing such a lousy job. Their hold it to the vest approach is working brilliantly. No Holly. Way to go. Losing! You've not come up with anything worth any value and you have yet to even name anyone as a suspect, not even the last person that supposedly saw her before she was kidnapped. News flash dummies-she wasn't kidnapped, Clint got rid of her and there's no doubt in my mind he is guilty of this entire thing. None what so ever.
Third-the cops just took Clint's word for it. They didn't even think..."hmmm maybe he is involved in this". Nope. They just sent the public out into the woods on a man hunt for a man that Clint, much to Clint's advantage, just can't seem to describe. Oh wait, he's wearing camo. That's a clear give away. Ha. No wait, it was the boyfriend, No, I mean it was a man that looked like her boyfriend, but wait, I can't really remember what he looked like at all. But sure, let's take his word for it and send the entire public out into the woods for days on end looking for someone they don't even know how to describe. Ha.
Fourth-and most importantly-not revealing the facts is NOT helping Holly. It is only hurting this case. Why is anyone surprised that she hasn't been found? How on earth is the public supposed to find her. Oh that's right, we should look for a guy wearing camo. That should be easy.
Fifth-Her family remaining silent is doing nothing. I mean Krista Dittemyer's family was on the air several times and the cops instantly revealed the information they found. The blood in the car was identified as hers and a few days later, unfortunately, they found Krista not alive. However, they found her!! Anyone seeing a connection here-give the public useful identifying information and tada, you find the missing person! It's like playing a game of clue. You give the clues and then you figure it out. Hello?! Duh?!
Sixth-This whole thing is so frustrating that I no longer wish to follow this case and I'm not even a resident of TN. I can only imagine how discouraged the community must be. Hope everyone has fun out there in the woods, while the guilty person is sitting inside of that house working a plan out with his lawyer. But wait. He's not guilty right-so why does he need a lawyer anyways? Please. Clint-YOU are guilty. And whether or not a court ever agrees with me, I could care less. Whitney can say whatever she wants, but if Clint was really as "caring" about his sister, speak up. Your silence is only incriminating you more, but really, your actions-hiring a lawyer, are speaking louder than your silence.
Found this website that has a Holly Bobo: Timeline.
http://casesignal.wordpress.com/2011/04/27/holly-bobo-timeline/.
I hear your frustration, Anonymous at 7:43PM.
I have been thinking along those same lines, although recently I've begun doubting that line of thinking, for the simple reason that LE hasn't made a move on Clint. It seems they would have ample evidence to at least search the home or something by now if they suspected him. Do you know for a fact he has a lawyer, or do you suspect it because he appears to have clammed up? (For all we know he is still talking to LE.)
I have to say it is curious that the police have kept a 24-hour vigil at the Bobo driveway. If he has a lawyer that may be all they can do for now. Hmmm. It is bizarre to think LE is accepting his story as fact when it sounds so squirrely - they can't be THAT dumb! So either they don't suspect him for legitimate reasons they are not disclosing, or do, but can't name him a POI for lack of sufficient evidence. Either way, I quit too! The least they could do is release the 911 tapes, and the blood results. But maybe that would make them look bad, or play into the lawyer's hands - the lawyer (if there is one) doesn't have those tapes either if they are currently being held back. This may be a cat-and-mouse game with his counsel - again, if he has enlisted any. I wonder.
But maybe he is entirely innocent. Then.... where is the description of the suspect we need to look for? Aren't they worried down there?
It's all frustrating to the point of being annoying.
Incidentally, there are two lawyers listed in Shelbyville, TN, with the last name of Bobo. I wonder if they are related? One is John Bobo, the other is Stephen Todd Bobo. Maybe? I wouldn't know how to find out, but I've never heard that last name before, and suddenly here are a whole bunch of them in TN.
What better way to "remove any kind of evidence that lay on the ground" than to turn loose horses, ATV's and several hundred sets of footprints. The local LE there are outta their leagues with any kind of investigation. The best they can hope for is to make sure the coffee is ready. I'm telling you, it wouldn't shock me at all to find out that they could be involved in this whole fiasco, IMO... I have seen even prior admins here fail to secure crime scenes; deeming the situations civil and domestic...they just disgust me.
If Clint Bobo lawyered up very early on in this case, explaining his invisibility in the public eye, it's another sign that all is not well in the Bobo household and with Clint's story.
I've read posts that state this (Clint has a lawyer) as fact. There probably is not any way to reliably confirm that, at this time.
If anyone finds any mention in a news article about 'Clint Bobo's attorney,' please post the details and location of article.
Thanks.
I was reading the story Pat posted a link too.
http://www.wsmv.com/news/27708018/detail.html
About missing cases and murders that had gone cold in the area,..All of the disappearances were within an hour's drive of each other.
I found it really interesting.... especially the women who disappeared 2 days after for reporting information about a man she new.......never been found again.
there is another article I found this morning of another man who is also missing (could be due to drugs?)
http://www.newschannel5.com/story/14545457/womans-brother-has-been-missing-since-2009
If clint is involved with something like drugs.....then his sisters disappearance could be the result of that..or maybe his father is in a dispute about the tree trimming side of things with another company or over land?...then it might explain why things are hush hush,...it goes from the bottom to right to the top behind the scenes with corruption...and the bobos hands might be tied in what they allowed to do?
Whatever the reason something is not right in this story the whole families actions are strange.... I just hope and pray holly is found alive.
and that someone gets to the bottom of it all.
It's discouraging, and it does seem like a particularly odd case.
Although I wish it was true, it does not seem entirely plausible to me that LE is not releasing any information at all because they are so on top of it and ready to make an arrest. I guess because in most other cases I've seen similar to this, they at least hold another press conference to release what they can to the public so that the public is not misled and can be the most helpful to them (rumors swirling and confusion on the search is hardly helpful). They could at least say something where people get the general idea it's tricky for them to answer some questions.
So there are not ANY questions they can answer, or a few more tidbits (clarifiers?) they can release that will help and won't jeopardize the case? I don't know, but silence from everyone about just about everything is just really odd.
The only new piece of info that I've read recently is about a new clue. What do you guys think about this "roadside clue" that they seem to be emphasizing?
I hope this doesn't sound insensitive, but I keep coming back to it: Why is it that the TN Governor has put up $50k and Whitney Duncan, who is Holly's cousin and apparently a famous recording artist, has put up nothing? I don't suspect her of anything, but it seems very odd! If I were her, I'd immediately have put up $1 million reward - IMMEDIATELY! Maybe she doesn't have a million (although I argue she could raise it through friends), but come on, at least something! I really don't mean to sound insensitive, but for young kids in a small town who know something, real money could be just the incentive they need to talk. Not just a measly $75k.
Also - I hope they're swabbing every person in that town for DNA. My dad's sister was murdered and that's how they caught him - a DNA swab...
Anon. at 4/30/11 at 10:28 am,
It's possible that Duncan contributed to the Holly Bobo Fund anonymously (part of the $25,000). I don't thing Duncan has had so much success that she is a millionaire. How many of us never heard of her until her cousin was announced missing? I'd guess most people.
Some people spend as much (if not more) than they make and don't have much saved away. Perhaps Whitney is one of those folks.
Or perhaps Whitney thinks other people can take care of the reward--she'll take care of the twittering. Remember, Holly's mother wanted to use public money from sales of t-shirts to send her daughter on a vacation or give her a gift of Holly's choice, (if and) when Holly returns, instead of taking money out of the family's pockets to provide for it, which a lot of us found not only strange, but in bad taste.
Also, even though some media reports were not clear about it, Governor Haslam did not privately donate the $50,00 to the reward fund--it will be paid from the taxpayers of Tennessee. District Attorney General Hansel McAdams requested the Governor to put up state money for the reward. You can verify that here:
http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110418/NEWS0201/110418031/Reward-Holly-Bobo-case-upped-by-50-000-Haslam-s-help
As to Whitney Duncan being wealthy and not contributing to the reward fund:
She is not a big Hollywood star. She is working to become a bigger known country singer. She may be dead broke, for all we know, or struggling to fund her career. Believe me, people in television, movies, music, and authors of books - almost ALL of them make nearly nothing unless they are at the very, very top. These industries pay very little to those who are not top billed stars. So, we cannot judge Whitney on this.
Also, as to her defense of the family; this is a normal reaction. However, it would be nice if someone in the family or friends or police officer would encourage them to be more forthcoming (which they should unless there is something they have to hide).
I wonder if the reason why the 911 calls haven't been released yet is if it's possibly the brother did know who she walked off with(assuming he didn't do anything himself) and mentioned the person's name on the 911 call?
to Anon. at 04/30/11, 10:46 pm
Yes, I think that is a valid hypothesis to explain their not releasing the calls.
Of course, if he KNEW who she walked off and told the investigators, wouldn't they already have figured the case out and been able to prove it by now?
Here we are, more than two weeks out since those calls were placed.
Has anyone checked Holly Bobo's grades in nursing school? Perhaps there was lots of pressure on this kid to make it in nursing school and maybe she was just one tick away from being booted because of grades and a hoax just as this would give her an excuse to get out before being kicked out. Perhaps to a 20 year old, this plan made sense at the time and now she and her family are too embarrassed to admit it all. Just a thought, nothing else seems to make sense.....
There seems to be something fishy going on with this case. I think that this small town has more secrets then they are letting on. I have read article after article and thinking back to all the classes that I have had for criminal justice, this just does not make sense at all. I know that some information is good to keep from the public for the simple fact to catch the perp. Why have the close knit family and friends been released and ruled out? What is the deal with everything being a secret? I believe that the investigators have their hands full when everything seems to be pointing to this being an "inside job". Families do not stay in hiding if there is nothing to hide. Also I still want to know why the boyfriend seems to not be seen anywhere or talked to by anyone. If you look at some facebook pages you see that people say that he is staying with close family. To be honest if the person that I loved was missing I would try all I can to help and it seems very funny that him and Holly's family is not to be seem or heard from after the news except for the "T-shirt sales". It would make a lot of sense if the investigators are being so quiet because it is the family that is being looked at. I only can guess what these investigators have to deal with and all these people that helped if it comes to find out this is all a SHAM! I hope this is not true but all things still seemed to be pointing in that direction. If anyone has any information about anything new please put up a link would love to know what is going on with this case.
Wildcat
Holly Bobo's family clearly believes Holly is dead in another weird twist in the case. From hiding, they issue a statement that is not being released not looking for someone who has Holly, but for someone with her body on their land.
http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20110503/NEWS01/110503024/Holly-Bobo-s-family-wants-property-searches?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
They have now released the Bobo family statement which is much better than the media version of it, but there is still something not quite right. Polite, proper, too distant, and too resigned.
http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20110503/NEWS01/110503030/Family-Holly-Bobo-releases-statement-thanks-search-efforts?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
Even more strange, here is a link to the actual scanned letter from the Bobo family, with the first page being a note from the pastor. All hand-written - kind of messy. Just odd.
http://www.wkrn.com/link/487064/statement-from-holly-bobos-family-may-2-2011
Also, I think the hand writing looks like Mom penned this. She also uses the word "precious" to describe Holly, as she did in the only public appearance she made.
to Anon. on 05/03/11 at 5:20 pm
I noticed that repeated use of the word precious in referring to Holly. It's not uncommon for people who have lost a child to refer to that child as precious, but it did give me pause reading the Bobo family statement, because that is one word that British mother Kate McCann used repeatedly in referring to her allegedly abducted daughter Madeleine McCann. The original lead investigator in the McCann case said forensic evidence pointed to Madeleine having died in the family's holiday apartment in Portugal and the parents having hidden the body. Because of extraordinary high level help by government officials and wealthy individuals, the McCanns have so far escaped having to fully cooperate with the Portuguese police investigators, still four years later.
McCannfiles.com
When I read the family's press release, at first, I thought they were asking for volunteers to search their (the Bobo family's) property and thought that that was about three weeks overdue. Does anyone know if the Bobo acreage was fully searched by investigators and volunteers? It certainly ought to have been, right at the start.
Pat,
I agree with your description of the statement -- "polite," "proper," "too distant," "too resigned."
It reminded me of how I felt watching the Mom at the first (and only, so far) news conference. I would use those same words to deserve her behavior. She was also looking down the whole time. I put myself in her shoes, and I would have been LOOKING UP AND PLEADING into the eyes of anyone I could connect with to please help find my child! I would think at that early stage, she would have been panicked and desperate for help. But she seemed oddly resigned to me. She is a school teacher, so it didn't seem like her personality would be introverted and passive, but I guess anything is possible. When it comes to a Mother's love, however, I think the universal truth is that we usually rise up to do anything to protect our cubs, so I just thought it was odd. I even considered that maybe she was depressed, but that still doesn't really explain it for me.
So here is just another thing -- the statement -- on top of everything else (the press conference/hiding/t-shirt sales) that I just cannot relate to at all!
Pat,
Oops. In my post (above) the word "deserve" is supposed to be "describe." I am using my new toy, an iPad -- and I'm a mess! Sometimes a spellcheck type thing inputs another word that it THINKS I meant to type. Don't think for me, iPad! :)
Pat,
There is something "not quite right" about their statement? They most likely are coming to grips that Holly is deceased, they have 24/7 police presence at their home, they are most likely all stir crazy and medicated, and they know their world will never, ever be the same again. Even if they expect her home, they must imagine she's going through what horror films are made of. I wouldn't expect anyone in the immediate family could give an outstanding statement to the press. Besides that, isn't it most likely vetted by the law involved, and approved for release? And isn't it tactical depending on circumstances?
I'm sure they go through what kind of statement depending on the investigation. Do we make the perp nervous, do we make him calm and unsuspecting, do we let him know we are infuriated. Don't some get off on that?
Anyway, I wish you'd go into more detail, because the way you said it made me think you feel the family is acting in a peculiar manner that isn't on the up-and-up.
Thanks for any clarification and insight you can offer into this.
There is nothing peculiar about the Bobo family. They have shown to be a good,
hardworking Christian family who are going through the stages of grief, hurt, and possible loss normally as human beings and as Christians. Let me fill you in:
The T-shirt sales were an act of Faith and hope to Holly, and the world and to them.
Would you consider an army who instead of using weapons, marched around a land 7 times
called Jericho peculiar. Would you consider someone helping someone who is blind to spit and place mud in that Man’s eyes peculiar. I believe the t-shirts even has Scripture on them, to hold on to with Faith in Jesus Christ. What I find interesting is that those who may not have Faith will find that act peculiar, while others understand it completely. Also, it may be helpful to google the 5 stages of grief, and that grief can be of many different things.
http://www.memorialhospital.org/library/general/stress-the-3.html.
Denial and isolation are the first stage of this normal and very human process.
Hence, T-shirts sales in hopes of a safe return and a vacation, completely normal.
Also wanting to be distant at this time, completely normal. Especially in this politically correct, instant
media gratification land that we live in. Statistics have proved that anyone, anywhere
will not be approved or liked by 10 percent of everyone else. No one can please everyone by his or her actions, thoughts, words, statements, and heart motives. So please,
lets not over analyze everything because of our need to know or think that we’re helping in solving this, and just let the experts handle what they do best. The best thing that we can do at this time is pray, and Love with an understanding love, for this community, and
this family and for a miracle, however way God wants to see that miracle through in the
Name of Jesus Christ.
Another odd thing is the signature on the letter to the media is "Holly Bobo's family.
Now, to those who ask why I think there is something odd in the Bobo family behavior and couldn't they just be grieving people, that everyone grieves in a different manner, they answer is possibly, but not probably.
When you have viewed as many families as I have following a loved one going missing or a loved one being murdered, most behaviors are pretty predictable...yes, some less demonstrative, some more, some reaching out to the media, some not wanting to be in the limelight, and, yes, some do quirky things. But, it is not one issue that I focus on, but a totality of what I see.
To date, there are clearly people who stand out that made me question their innocence; John and Patsy Ramsey, the McCanns, Drew and Scott Peterson, Josh Powell...to name a few. The Bobos also have a dozen odd behaviors that are extremely unusual for a family that does not have some involvement in what happened. Maybe they will be a huge anomaly, but the odds are that there is something amiss...don't know exactly what....but something is not normal even for people in the Bobo's situation.
Having said this, I do NOT think Mrs. Bobo's behavior at the press conference was faked emotion. I believe she was totally distraught and completely beside herself with grief. What struck me though, was that her behavior appeared to be one who already had lost her daughter absolutely and someone who already knew what had happened.
Thanks for your insight - such as your point about "What struck me though, was that her behavior appeared to be one who already had lost her daughter.."
Is the sloppily hand written note a "normal" way for familys in this type of situation to communicate?
That appeared odd to me.
That's a really good point Pat made about the mother possibly seeming to already know what had happened at the press conference. I think if her daughter had just been abducted and everyone including police seemed to think she could be found alive, the mom would have had a totally different demeanor. She would have been somehow hopeful and questioning - extremely frightened and pleading, panicked, even - but not beside herself with grief and despair just yet, since everybody was out looking and hoping to find Holly. Makes a lot of sense out of that moment on camera, actually, which has really been bugging me.
Pat, I wish you were in charge of this investigation, maybe we'd have some answers by now.
Pat,
I understand all of what you said in regard to something being odd in the families behavior, or absence thereof. How much control, though, do they have over what they do and/or say. I would think it was all dictated by those handling the case. Not so?
GREAT BLOGG!
Isabelle Zehnder at the Examiner is following the Bobo case closely. You can find a great deal of updated information on her latest article "Holly Bobo Abduction: 3-week wrap-up: "We're Not Giving Up on Holly" dated 05/05/11.
http://www.examiner.com/missing-persons-in-national/holly-bobo-abduction-3-week-wrap-up-we-re-not-giving-up-on-holly
Zehnder has taken a very sympathetic view of the Bobo family and critizes those who have "unjustly condemned" the Bobos and also now their pastor Don Franks (who wrote a note that went with the family's recent press release this week). Zehnder promises to write an entire article about this: "There have been numerous attacks on Holly’s brother and family - all which serve to hurt a family that is already grieving. This will be addressed further in an upcoming article." I find this criticism irksome and premature, as it is impossible for Zehnder to know if the Bobos are involved in any way with Holly's disappearance, not until the investigation is completed and perpetrator(s) are named.
One of the pieces of information I found most interesting was this statement by Kristin Helm, spokesperson for the TBI:
QUOTE
There has been some question as to who made the two 911 calls the morning Holly went missing. Many believe the neighbor who allegedly heard Holly scream made one of the calls. Helm said, “I’m unaware the neighbor made a 911 call.”

While Helm's vague comment is not definitive, it does suggest that the following news reports were then accurate about who placed the 911 call (without naming a specific person):
This is a quote from a TBI agent in a WBBJ-TV article "Bobo Search Enters Second Day" dated 04/14/11, regarding 911 calls made:

"The brother has been very helpful to us and the family has been very helpful, said John Mehr, agent in charge with the TBI. "The brother is the one that called 911 and the mother has reached out to someone to call 911."

and a different accounting of the 911 calls, with a generic source of "Authorities" in a Jackson Sun news article titled "Bobo's father says whoever abducted his daughter knew her routine" dated 04/14/11:
QUOTE
Authorities said the 911 center received two calls about the abduction, one from Bobo's 25-year-old brother, who was home at the time, and the other from Bobo's mother, who wasn't.

and from a Midsouthnewz article "Holly Bobo Abduction: $25,000 Reward Offered" dated 04/14/11:

Sheriff Wyatt revealed today that two 911 calls regarding the abduction had been placed at the time of the girl's disappearance.
One call was from her brother, who was in the home, and the other was from a woman police did not identify.

Isabelle Zehnder at the Examiner is following the Bobo case closely. You can find a great deal of updated information on her latest article "Holly Bobo Abduction: 3-week wrap-up: "We're Not Giving Up on Holly" dated 05/05/11.
http://www.examiner.com/missing-persons-in-national/holly-bobo-abduction-3-week-wrap-up-we-re-not-giving-up-on-holly
Zehnder has taken a very sympathetic view of the Bobo family and criticizes those who have "unjustly condemned" the Bobos and also now their pastor Don Franks (who wrote a note that went with the family's recent press release this week).
END QUOTE

Well, LE knows exactly who placed the 911 calls and exactly what time. So anything a reporter or writer says or thinks may or may not be true - it's just speculation based on rumors until LE spills the beans. I find it most interesting that they haven't released any 911 information at all. Why in the world not? I can only think of two reasons:
1. They don't care and it doesn't matter.
2. It points to someone or is integral to the case in some way and they want to keep it quiet.
I don't see how this one thing looks good for the family. If LE doesn't care and it would help the family, they would release it. So I think it's #2.
So, how could two 911 calls tip the perp that LE is on to him if it is an unknown abductor? Maybe there is something, but I can't think of a way. I just think the calls are evidence somehowc either of inconsistency by the family or possibly timeline oddities. Why else would LE not release the 911 calls? It just makes no sense.
Are comments being moderated? I thought I had read they are not, but I posted an hour or so ago and it never showed up.
Ok, I don't know why, but it took 3 times for my post to post, so I'll try to rewrite what I did.
First, thanks for this blog, I just found it from a link and I'm so happy to see there's not a lot of trolls spreading nonesense.
Something I have not seen mentioned here, and it has bugged me, is the "significant" piece of evidence that was found along the road after an apparent phone tip. The TBI spokeswoman said something to the effect of "the item won't be described to the public unless there is a reason" (paraphrase). Then it was "leaked" that the item was Holly's cell phone. We still don't really know though. Something about the TBI statement made me read it over and over, and after doing so my gut conclusion was that maybe they had found Holly's underwear (which mad me sick). I could understand them not wanting to maybe come out and say they found her underwear (I pray that's not what it was), but if it was indeed her phone, I don't see how that could hurt the invetigation. I mean someone knew it was there, whatever it was, because they called it in and said to look there. But I find it odd that her lunch (box, bag, purse - it's been called everything) was found over there, the significant item was found over here, and I never saw for certain where the duct tape was found. I mean someone fleeing does not randomly drive around scattering things here and there. It doesn't add up or make sense.
I have fear in my heart she's at the bottom of one of those ponds, but I am also clinging to hope and faith that she is still alive somewhere.
Praying for Holly and her safe return.
I think the scattered evidence is one of the bigger mysteries, and therefore clues. I don't know how to interpret it, but it doesn't seem like something a perp fleeing the area would do. Why would you do that? Just ditch the stuff when you get where you are going. Hide it well, for crying out loud. Or leave it with the victim, just take the battery out of the phone. To me the scattered evidence has always looked like a deliberate attempt to mislead. But who knows, maybe a local perp drove around town for awhile with or without Holly in the car, scattering various things of hers. Could happen, right? Or maybe somebody thought it would look more like a random crime this way.
So some of the weird things in this case that don't add up are:
1. Changing stories at the scene of the abduction.
2. Scattered belongings.
3. Police guard on family's home.
4. No further family statements.
5. No visible brother.
6. Refusal to reveal 911 calls.
7. No scent into woods.
8. No tracks...
9. No real description of suspect.
10.No call by LE for people to be careful, but they said it was a local perp! Huh?
11. The blood and the scream, and why won't they just say whose blood, how much, and who heard what scream and when? How could it make a difference to a kidnapper at large?
Why can't LE tell us something to exonerate the family if LE doesn't believe they are involved? Such as, we know it wasn't them - we can't tell you how we know, but they are not involved. That would work for me.
"The brother has been very helpful to us and the family has been very helpful, said John Mehr, agent in charge with the TBI. -Very interesting. During the Amanda Knox case, police said the EXACT thing about her. That she was extremely helpful, giving them all the information they asked, however, she changed her story several times. Hm. Sound familiar anyone?
An ALERT to those following the Holly Bobo case:
Please read the following blog article re. Isabelle Zehnder's reporting on the Bobo case for the Examiner:
Holly Bobo Rumors Unleashed by Amateur Media, by Chelsea Hoffman, published 05/06/11, Gather
to Anon. at 05/06/11 at 6:53 pm
I think your list of 11 items is right on target.
I agree -- great list. And thanks for mentioning the article by Hoffman, Jolie.
I realize that there is no way we can know everything going on behind the scenes, so I pray the LE has more than it appears they do. But if this case is at a real standstill like it seems it is, wouldn't it be time to release information to the public? Unless they are building a case and ready to make an arrest, that is.
Really sad and frustrating case.
DEAR FRIENDS !! All i can suggest to all americans, and to most people of this world is to be united. The people united will never be defeated, but if isolated, if divided, people will be defeated. The USA right now is divided into loyal democrats, loyal republicans, independents, christian religious people, non-christians, hispanics, blacks etc. This country cannot solve most of its problems if the majority of peopel are so divided.
People should get out of the Democratic Party and of The Republican Party, people should get out of the mainstream TV channels, and stop and quit trusting the traditional talking heads and the traditional legislators and opinion creators of the country such as Larry King, Oprah Winfrey, Jon Stewart, Lou Dobbs, David Letterman, Jay Leno, etc.
It is time for american people to unite, so that we can see a real change in the future. The USA demands requires a change, because there cannot be real wealth and high living standards like the liars that rule USA tell us, in a nation where your children and your loved ones might be stolen from you.
There is no wealth, no high living standards and no pursuit of happiness in our country as long as 1 million children and people are abducted and stolen from their families every year.
.
Lay off the bottle and get some sleep.
Pat - want to run this by you:
Let's say HB actually went missing some time before the morning of the "abduction"... Her parents and boyfriend are sure something happened to her. They know that simply reporting her as missing, they might get the old run around, "you have to wait 48 hours before you can report her missing".
So they come with the story of her brother seeing her being led into the woods. Maybe a friend in LE even advised them this would be the way to really get the case moving...
Problem is, this kind of tricky can backfire, and is of course against the law - so I in no way would ever want anyone to do this...
If this was what took place it would explain many of the strange things about not seeing the BF or parents in public, no scent leading into the woods etc.
So wonder if what I said makes sense to you?
Thanks Anon, and your list of 11 points seems to be right on target. The whole thing has smelled fishy since day 1. And I have a really sad feeling that TBI has totally bungled the entire case and is no closer to finding Holly and whomever did whatever to her. :(
Another one of my nagging questions is this, if the neighbors are reportedly so far away, how did one hear Holly scream, if that's what happened? I've read where they live on 2 acres and have seen maps that place the closest neighbor quite a ways away. I know a womans scream can carry, but that far? And if she did scream, why didn't the brother hear her from right inside the house?
On a brighter note, the sheriff said on Saturday that they were ramping up the search.
"Decatur County Sheriff Roy Wyatt said Saturday that authorities planned to ramp up the search today and that law enforcement continues to follow leads as they come in."
I hope and pray they have new evidence and leads and get to the bottom of this already.
And here's a link to the article Jolie posted May 6, 2011 10:57 PM.
http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474979298108
It's really sad people are posting such unconfirmed "facts".
And re Anon's post May 9, 2011 11:14 AM, I've always found it VERY odd that there has never been any mention of the last time Holly was seen before she was supposedly seen being led into the woods. I mean was Holly even in school the day before? Should be pretty easy to confirm if she had been missing longer.
I agree that was a very good list. Also, yes, it is odd that nothing could be mentioned about when Holly was seen or heard from outside of the family members. As to the theory from Anon above that the family was told to come up with this story to get more people looking for a missing-by-other-than-camouflage-man, I doubt any police department would do that. Looking for a body when there is no indication of homicide or abduction would be so egregious that I can't see LE doing that. But, LE not handling the case well, yes.
Pat,
I think that Anon. of 05/09/11 at 11:14 am meant that the family might have come up with the idea on their own beforehand to get the police interested in looking for her immediately instead of being told to wait for a period of time, not that the police told the family to report it as such.
A poster on the Beauty Made Fresh blog made the following comment confirming that a neighbor DID hear screaming and called for help the morning Holly was reported missing.
QUOTE
And this article that is linked to the Casesignal Timeline:
http://casesignal.wordpress.com/2011/04/27/holly-bobo-timeline/
It's under the "Holly Bobo Time Last Seen" section.
"A neighbor who spoke with ABC 7 Eyewitness News said they heard screaming and that is when help was called. All police were told is that she was taken into the woods."
http://www.wbbjtv.com/news/local/Decatur-County-Abduction-119818374.html
END QUOTE
While the April 13 article does confirm that the TV station spoke to the neighbor who head the screaming, it does not specify who the neighbor called. Was it the police or a Bobo family member?
Hmm...I see what you are saying but that would be a pretty extreme lie and a lot of acting just to get a quicker response. The police and the family have acted from the beginning as if Holly is dead; the mother crying and collapsing at the one media appearance and the sheriff losing it as well. Then, neither the police nor the family seem to be looking all the hard or encouraging anyone to look all that hard for the camouflage man. I don't think Holly ran off and I think the family is likely to know what happened.
Jolie, I tell you, that is either the worst media reporting with all those different times, witnesses and stories or Sheriff Wyatt can't keep HIS stories straight.
It makes you wonder, doesn't it?
I am also perplexed by the lack of information and clarification missing in this case, in what started out as a very high profile, national story.
Pat, I, too, strongly suspect the family knows Holly is dead and the how and why of it, too. I'd hate to think the Sheriff was aware also and not honorably carrying out his duties, but I know it can happen.
The fact that the TBI insists that the alleged abductor must have been a local member of the community despite the fact that no one started searching for Holly and the abductor for 45-minutes after the alleged abduction, giving a perp plenty of time to escape with Holly, just doesn't seem right, unless they have some evidence other than the belief that a person would have to know their way around the area to take the girl and get out without being seen.
With the authorities withholding from the public all the results of testing on the items recovered and the blood at the Bobo property, I had expected that the authorities were building a strong case and would make an announcement of an arrest soon after their analysis. And yet days and weeks have gone by, with no new developments announced. No new interviews by the authorities or the Bobo family, just a simple press statement.
How would it have been harmful to confirm whether or not:
1) the blood was Holly's or at least human?
2) if the hair stuck to the duct tape matched Holly's DNA and if fingerprints were found on the tape?
3) what was the most recent item found that was suspected to be Holly's (unconfirmed information online said it was a cell phone)?
Why haven't the authorities taken the time to clear up the questions regarding Clint Bobo's reports to police about his sister's alleged abudction, unless they were being purposely evasive because they suspect him and they know that providing the public with the full information would make the public even more suspicious and possibly cause the Bobos to shut up and get a lawyer (if they haven't already):
a) Was he the one to choose the words "dragged away" ?
b) If so, did he change his story later on, to conform with the developments of the investigation?
c) Why not release Clint's 911 call to the public (the law that would prevent police and the media from doing so hasn't been passed yet)? Certainly, that would give a clearer picture of what Clint told the authorities he saw.
d) Why not issue a timeline, including the times that each of the two 911 calls were made to police that morning?
e) Why not state when the last time each of Holly's parents saw Holly in person? When the last time someone outside of the family saw Holly?
f) Why not provide more information about Clint Bobo and his planned schedule for that day and what he was doing before he saw Holly with the alleged abductor? Why he looked out the window at the time he did?
I would think that members of the communities of Darden and Parsons would be even more puzzled and frustrated by the lack of information than us outside observers.
Thanks Jolie for mentioning that my
Anon. of 05/09/11 at 11:14 comment was more a thought of what if the family or brother did what I mentioned....
Something I read on another board that ties in with your item e) about the last time HB was seen has to do with LE asking people to report any odd behavior, but not asking people who might have seen HB before she went missing to come forward. - all very strange!
http://wellaware1.com/bobo.htm
this website is interesting, check it out! Could be the reason the media, cops, and family haven't talked about the case again or why the media isn't covering it anymore.
#1 on the "to do" list: the family needs to take polygraphs. Do we know for sure if they have done so or if they have refused? There is too much confusion regarding the family, and you would think they would want to clear themselves for Holly's sake so there is not any focus or suspicion on them. Any confusion about them takes away from the search for Holly.
TAKE POLYGRAPHS!
Anon above about the website that might have the answer to what is going on: the person who created that theory has a mental problem. Seriously.
Mental issues and also a lot of spare time on their hands -
This case might be a hoax that someone has caught red-handed. That is probably why the media, cops, and governor of TN have shut-up about it.
(the creator of this site already found Holly!) http://wellaware1.com/bobo.htm
-the site says she's been found hiding under a new identify(as has her mom and dad) on Facebook and Myspace(pics and facts are included. look at the page for more info!)
Maybe that's the reason we don't see any of them in the media anymore...
Just for grins, if you look at the oddities and perplexing pieces of this case while assuming there was no abduction, those eleven (and probably more) points make sense. In fact most of them would be expected if the abduction was a fabrication (for some unknown reason). This puts my logical mind at ease.
Let's stop with this insane website with the wild theory, Anon at 11:22. That's total made up speculation by some sort of whack - come on, we're smarter than that! I hope. If not, I'm leaving this site before it degenerates any further. (And those people bear no resemblance other than hair style to the family.) Stop, please.
Yes, the person who is claiming this woman is Holly has got serious problems. Like Holly would go missing and then go right on Facebook to advertise herself under another name ;:rolls eyes::
Holly Bobo has undoubtedly met some horrible fate. The chances of this beautiful woman being alive are slim to none. The only hoax that may have been perpetrated is if a family member did something to Holly and the family is staging her disappearance as an abduction.
Pat, I have a question. It has never been stated (that I have seen) that LE did a search of the Bobo home. I guess they can't do that without probable cause? I suppose if a family member did something untoward to Holly, it would likely have happened at home. Do you know if there has been a search inside the home, and if not, does LE ever request one just to have a look, without probable cause? I mean, if they found anything inside, i.e. blood spatters cleaned up, the case would be over. If they found nothing, we'd still have a big mystery, but it would be no worse than it is already. I guess this would be along the lines of the family taking polygraphs to eliminate suspicion. We still don't know if they did or not.
if people actually took the time to read and look thoroughly at the site(whether or not you agree with it) The pictures do show some very uncanny resemblance to the family members and to who they say is Holly themselves(and not the same color shirt kinda thing) like facial structure and distinctive face landmarks are pretty equal(and I don't think the creator is saying Holly*if it is her*immediately went into a new persona. I think what the person is trying to say is these are actors/actress playing acting roles faking news stories we end up hearing about on the news) I don't believe it 100%, but it also makes me suspicious since this case is still a mystery to us anyway.
Anon at May 10, 2011 1:35 PM brings up one of my questions, does anyone actually know if LE searched the Bobo house and/or property? From everything I have seen there has been no mention of searches on or directly around the Bobo's property. Why not? And no matter how much I cling to hope she will be found alive, I think those ponds right near her house need to be looked at again, thouroughly.
Uh, nobody even bother to look at that website where someone is stating everyone in the Bobo case is an actor and that Holly and etc. are made up people. That makes no sense at all, and I am afraid that is a very paranoid person with some mental issues. There's obviously some disordered thinking going on there.
Let's stay with reality!
P.S. Excuse me to the person above, but tell me how the TBI, sheriff's department, Holly's hometown people, church, etc. etc. would not be saying THIS PERSON AND FAMILY DO NOT ACTUALLY EXIST? Does Holly's cousin also not exist? Is she playing along with her non-existent relatives?
Please. Let's not be silly.
When was the last known visual contact of Holly and by whom? Who had the last known verbal contact with her? Text messages and FB postings can be forged. Everything seems to come back to the brother. Very frustrating. I am a Tennessean. I am very disappointed in the TBI handling of this situation. I am confused why the governor has allocated 50k to this when there is another missing young woman who looks like Holly just a few miles down the road. None of this is making sense.
Anon, no, nothing does make sense. :( So very frustrating. I've been losing sleep over it and it's effecting my daily life, not a day goes by that I don't think about her and cry for her and pray for her. What really makes no sense is in this so very small rural area, where everyone knows eveyone and probably each others business, not a single person can provide a solid lead or saw something out of the ordinary or...anything. I find that so very, very odd. Something about this whole thing has never felt right. It's like out of a bad movie. And now everyone has totally clammed up, NO ONE is saying anythig. If I were the family I'd be pleading to keep it out there in front of the public hoping to jog someones memory. Sorry for getting so emtional. It just breaks my heart everyday. It just breaks my heart everyday.
And I asked the same question, when WAS the last time she was seen? Was she in school Tuesday? Did she come home? Why are these simple questions that I can't see jeopardizing the investigation going unanswered? :(
Mag,
Why? Because something is weird. Something is very, very weird about this.
What do you think about the possibility that Holly may have went off on her own or with someone to committ suicide? The family may have then found a letter from Holly or other information indicating that this is what happened, but do not know where it happened, hence the search for her... Is it possible that the story from the brother/family was somehow conjured up because of how religious the family is and the devastation/embarassment that they would face in a small, religious community... This would explain why the family statements seem to revolve around finding Holly's body, rather then finding her alive.
To Anonymous 7:21...
I have a hard time rectifying a family who is "religious" and finds suicide to be shameful being the same kind of family who would have no problem lying to people about what happened -- selling t-shirts for money and misleading others for their own hidden agenda. That seems incongruous to me.
To Anon at 7:21 with a suicide theory:
Well, we could all posit theories using our imaginations. But I happen to believe in simple explanations. Most of the time, things aren't all that complicated. Everybody is getting creative here because we have no information.
As it stands, there are some very basic questions that need to be answered. LE probably has the answers, but they are not making the answers public. Why not? That is the real question. Figure out why LE is clamming up, and maybe then you have a theory. I just don't see them going quiet at all if they thought Holly were truly abducted.
What we have here is BOTH LE and the family clamming up. Now, unless they are in collusion (and I highly doubt that, since LE said nobody had been ruled out as a suspect), then LE and the family could be quiet for the same reason but not be on the same side. Think about that.
Sometimes silence is loud and meaninful. I think this may be one of those times.
To Anon. at 05/10/11 at 8:41 PM
That certainly makes sense and I hope that is what is happening here.
LE's insistence that that the perp is someone in the local community and their not increasing the parameters of the search area speaks volumes. Discontinuing the use of willing volunteers on searches also suggests they have reason to believe it is unnecessary, beyond conjecture.
_____
To anon. on 05/10/11 at 1:35 PM,
I would think that when a person is reported missing or abducted, that their home and property or the place where they were allegedly last seen, would be automatically searched, and that a search warrant would not be necessary to do so. Even if a warrant was required, if a family with a missing relative that lived with them refused the police access to search the home, etc., that would certainly be a major red flag that something was really wrong and suggest involvement in a crime. I would think the police would have already gone through all of Holly's personal belongings and her room in the home, looking for any possible clues as to who might be responsible for her disappearance. I would think that they have searched the Bobo land, too.
I, too, would be interested in what Pat Brown has to report about what the law is regarding property searches of homes and property for missing persons.
I haven't watched many of the local news reports. Perhaps someone did cover that aspect of the case, but I haven't read anything in the print media that confirms these searches were carried out.
IIRC LE took all the computers in home, so I believe the house was searched...
Something that has struck me odd throughout this case:
Here's this beautiful gal who is on her way to school and most likely as well groomed as she appears in all of her photos being led into the woods. Wow! Just find it hard to believe this would not seem odd to any family member who would see this.
To Anon May 10, 2011 7:21 PM, if they thought she commited suicide though, why would they be selling t-shirts so when she comes home she could go on vacation? Imho, I don't believe she took her own life. I just can't see it from all accounts of her. But what do I know more than anyone else.
To Anon May 10, 2011 8:41 PM and anyone else, So what do you think the silence means, from BOTH sides? I'm lost as to why NO ONE is talking. It's gotten eerie. And I've read all the accounts that say LE thinks they know who it is and are not saying anything hoping he will slip up. I mean if eveyone thinks she has been killed (I still hold out hope), what difference does it make?
To Jolie, if LE thinks the perp is someone local, which has been driven into our heads, why are they not warning locals that there might be some crazed lunatic out there? I mean that IS part of LE's job. It doesn't add up.
If the LE thinks that the person responsible for Holly's disappearance or death is someone intimately connected to her, such as a family member or friend, and what happened to Holly was directly because of the relationship between the two of them, and not the result of a psychological pathology or criminal behavior on someone's part(such as a serial rapist/murderer), there would be no reason to warn the community, as LE wouldn't expect any repeat behavior from the individual.
Here are two examples of that: a man that secretly murders his wife to gain her life insurance benefits and/or to marry his girlfriend is not likely to go on a killing spree, putting other women in danger. A parent that accidentally kills their child in rage and then covers up the crime and claims the child was abducted, is not likely to be a danger to the children of other people in the community.
Also, one possible answer to your question "...if everyone thinks she has been killed...what difference does it make?" is that LE may 'know' what happened to Holly but not have enough evidence to press charges. Without Holly's body, it would be more difficult to prove a case. When a perp knows he is a suspect and in danger of being arrested and charged for his crime(s), he often will then stop cooperating and start stonewalling the investigators, communicating only through a lawyer. If Holly is dead, LE and the public have a right to seek proof of that, and if her family is not involved, they deserve to know what happened to her and have her remains returned to them, if possible.
The community at large expects justice for all citizens for crimes committed. Without legal proof to use in a court of law to charge and convict someone guilty of those crimes, they are free to walk among us, without being held responsible for what they've done.
Other possible reasons I can think of for the LE not tipping their hand and naming a suspect is to avoid influencing any evidence that could come forward, the tainting of a potential jury pool, or even the risk of a lawsuit based on the claim of unfairly implying the guilt of someone and thereby defaming their reputation.
Jolie, thank you for your very detailed and thoughtful reply. I understand now, even though it still seems so odd that no one is talking about it anymore. It seems there are always people who want to talk about things, there are always friends, neighbors, leaks, etc. Tis is just so eerie that everyone clammed up, not just LE. I've never followed a missing person case before in such detail, so I'm still grasping at the why's of a lot of the investigation. Thanks for your insight.
On another note, I saw where it is said they just recently found a hotel key card near where they found the "significant item" on Easter weekend. It was reported on Gather http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474979313125 (who I'm not sure is reliable) and also on a FB page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Holly-Bobo-Search-and-Info/197838680260907?sk=wall that I'm also not sure is legit.
"New information about the abduction of Holly Bobo is emerging daily and is being privately investigated as well as investigated by the TBI, FBI and Decatur County Sheriff Department. This FB pages claims to be run by and links to a page called Holly Bobo Tactical SAR http://www.wix.com/hollybobotacticalsar/command
I hope it's ok to post those links, if not please remove them. Does anyone know if any of this is legit?
To mag & Jolie,
I have come to two possible conclusions about the silence and weirdness of this investigation....either 1) LE has mishandled/flubbed/been unwise with decisions made in this case or 2) They are onto someone and building a case/gathering evidence.
I can only look at it from one of those two vantage points -- or my head hurts! I guess it could be BOTH 1& 2, but then my head hurts again!
mag,
I'd take the hotel card "rumor" (for lack of a better word) with a grain of salt. I don't see a credible, named source for that info. And logically, if a kidnapper was savvy enough to take off with Holly, would they be dumb enough to leave key evidence behind, along with her own items? Unless it is a red herring by the supposed kidnapper, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
To Anon at 1:19 PM, I sort of feel the same way now (and my head hurts too), and I'm hoping and praying that it is #2, but deep in my heart I fear it's #1. I Hope I am proved wrong soon. As for BOTH 1 & 2, that's a migraine.
To Anon at 2:02 PM, thanks, I didn't see it mentioned anywhere other than those two "sources". And yeah, I think a key card would be a little too much, although it's possible it could have fallen out of the abductors pocket. And the items scatterd about in various locations still don't make sense, and the fact that her lunch bag was found 8 miles from her house. That just makes no sense. If someone is trying to abduct me, I am not going to worry about my lunch, nor are they. It is all so weird, as has been said many times before.
TBI speaks on Wednesday, fwiw. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110511/us_nm/us_bobo_crime_tennessee_3
*"Four weeks after Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo disappeared, investigators continue to receive leads from the public, officials said on Wednesday.
"We have lots of positive leads," says John Mehr, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agent. "That's the key. We ask people to continue giving us information. We hope we will have a positive ending to this."*
So he says "We hope we will have a positive ending to this." Positive in finding her alive, or positive in finding whomever did whatever to her? Now my head hurts again.
Apparently the links I posted in my 5/11 1:17 PM post, at least the FB one, is someone believed to be spreading false rumors for whatever sick reason. I've now seen mentions that this person has been banned from several places they had been posting. If someone could delete that info from my post above I'd appreciate it. I don't want to be giving them any unnecessary publicity. I'm sorry if I posted something I shouldn't have. I'm grasping for news a little too much I guess.
Also, Levi Page reported he contacted the TBI about the motel key card and they said 'no hotel pass key was discovered, and that the search for Holly Bobo is not expanding'.
http://www.examiner.com/crime-in-nashville/tbi-debunks-holly-bobo-rumors
I sincerely hope that's an accurate statement from him.
mag,
I'm the Anonymous from both posts -- 1:19 and 2:02. All the Anonymous posts on here are enough to give us all a headache as well! For my part, I'm sorry about that. I am not signed up to any other accounts, so that is why I post "anonymous." But it gets kind of confusing having so many anonymous posters.
Hey! The quote you have (above), with the sheriff -- he mentions a KEY. He said: "That's the key." So I guess there really IS a key card after all! Ha ha. Just a little lame humor there. :) As sad and frustrating as this case is, we have to have some humor to break it up at times.
It's also true that anything is possible in life (well, except some things that are just too far out there, like people involved in the Bobo case are all just actors!), but I try to go with what seems overall to make the most sense...but honestly, you are right that it is not to totally out of the realm of possibility that someone could accidentally drop a key card. However, if there is a rumor that a map is found with directions to someone's house, I am calling that one rubbish off the bat! ;)
P.S. mag: I am the same anonymous person who just posted to you. I just saw your update on the false info. Don't worry about it all. I think that everyone checking the Web to see what they can find on this case speaks to LE being so SILENT. Ahem! I will be thrilled if they are silent for a really good reason. Here's hoping.
Friday will be one month since this girl went missing. I hope that a renewed interest will be taken in the case and that someone with power will rain down the pressure on the TBI to open up about this case. The TBI looks stupid at this point. There are too many unanswered questions. It is so very strange.
I think the problem is that Examiner.com and Gather.com come up under GOOGLE NEWS which they should not. They are unpaid folks who may or may not be reporting news from primary sources or any sources at all. Because they come up as news, then it seems they are reporters from a news organization when they are not. If these were just blogs, then we could say, well, the writers are bloggers and we cannot trust then as a news source, just a source of opinion. I blog, I don't disseminate news, so while people can discuss my analysis they are not going to confuse what I say with on-the-ground reporting where I went and spoke to the police department or family (unless I specifically say so).
These blogs should be removed from the news link on Google and moved over to where they belong. Still can be great sources of information and discussion, but they are what they are,
My second, different comment about the Gather blog article and facebook page was deleted, too. I must be doing something wrong. I was trying to keep rumors from running rampant and spread as fact--which in the case of this particular rumor, is spreading like wildfire on the blogs and forums.
I hope, Pat, that if I am still welcome to post here, that you will specifically clue me in what was wrong with my posts so I don't keep making the same mistakes. Are we allowed to post on here things we read about the case on the blogs?
Thanks.
I think your posts are great, Jolie! I haven't removed anything and links to other blogs, including Gather and Examiner are welcome here. It is weird if anything is going missing because I haven't seen you say nasty things about me!
Thanks, Pat. Well, I'm stumped. After I log in and submit the comment, it shows up and later when I check back in, the comment is gone. Glad to know I didn't offend anyone.
Chelsea Hoffman has deleted the two comments I posted criticizing her lack of analyzing information from the facebook page and apparent lack of fact checking before publishing information as factual and also deleted two comments from another poster who stated the facebook page she used as a source was a fraud, on her recent blog about the "New Item Found."
And she also deleted another more recent post of mine that included the title and link to Levi Page's blog where he claims that he received an email response from Kristin Helm of TBI stating there was no hotel card key found.
In fact, the top of the comments to that blog article, it currently states "Comments: 4 (7 removed by Chelsea Hoffman)"
Then she posted the following vague comment of her own:
"This information has been verified." and then 10 mninutes later added:
"Maybe people should stop asking "KH" of the TBI information, since this isn't the first time she hasn't been on the same page as the DCSD -- just a thought."
_____
Those actions tell me all I need to know about Ms. Hoffman and her blogs.
I'll post copies of my comments that were deleted from her blog here. While critical, I think they were fair.
Well, I meant to copy and save my second comment on Hoffman's blog and thought I did but didn't.
One of the key points about the facebook page that I added in the second comment was the fact that, of the five photos at the very top of the page (previous profile photos, I think), ONLY ONE IS OF HOLLY and it's a B&W group shot of her with her mom and her boyfriend (I think). There are two vibrant color photos of Holly's cousin Whitney Duncan, though. The other two photos are of Holly's home and the driveway and mailbox. Very strange choices for a "group" supposed concerning themselves with trying to find a missing woman and then showing more photos of her cousin and her home than her, don't you think?
I have no doubt that this facebook page "Holly Bobo Search and Info" along with the companion website is phony and does not represent a real SAR group for Holly.
Yet, Chelsea didn't bother to analyze all of the available clues on the facebook page or state her source for verifying the information she is reporting as fact, just stating it is verified, even after questioned about it on her blog.
She also wrote a May 6 blog about a recent disappearance of a Kentucky woman, Tammy Faye Jarvis Sizemore Roberts, who went missing at the end of April and whose body was found in a pond last Friday, wrapped in plastic inside of a cabinet. Even though the woman lived in Manchester, KY, 324 miles away (a five-hour drive) from Darden, TN, where Holly lived, and that she was almost twice as old as Holly and had a criminal record, Hoffman asks the question: "...could there be any correlation between the disappearance of Bobo and other reported attempted kidnappings in the region?" solely based on both women having blond hair and being fairly attractive. I did some research and quickly discovered from reading local online forum posts that Tammy Faye lived a bit of a wild life, was likely using drugs and involved with a boyfriend who was also involved with drugs, perhaps even making and selling them. From the forums, I discovered that her second husband, Doug Roberts, was shot dead by an acquaintance of his last November. I verified it through news reports of the arrest and arraignment of the suspect in the killing. The news reports about Tammy Faye's body being found state that Tammy Faye was last seen riding a four-wheeler with her boyfriend. Local residents and one of her sons have posted their suspicions about the boyfriend being responsible.
Chelsea Hoffman didn't bother to do any research to see how much the one case corresponded to the other. If she had, she could have easily found out what I did and weighed some of that into her blog article, instead of choosing to focus on one possible scenario and fueling speculation that this was the work of a serial killer.
I'm sure that using Bobo's name helped draw attention to her blog, though.
You can read the blog article about Tammy Faye titled "Body of Woman Found in Kentucky Pond" on Gather and also my numerous comments with detailed sources listed afterward.
Another one of my comments appeared and disappeared again. It was a copy of my first deleted comment from Hoffman's Gather blog.
Pat, is there a problem with the blog that it is doing this.
My earlier comments from today had links in them, so I figured that might be the problem with them, once I learned you didn't delete them, and left links off of my last three comments, but still, I just lost one, and maybe more will be gone soon. :(
Second try to post and hoping it will stick this time. :)
This is the first comment I posted on Chelsea Hoffman's latest blog article on the Bobo case: "New Find in Holly Bobo Disappearance" dated 05/10/11. My comment was subsequently deleted by Chelsea this evening.

Chelsea,
How did you determine that local law enforcement officials were part of the group "Holly Bobo SAR" that sanction the facebook page by the same name? I could find no reference to that on the facebook wall or info. pages.
It would seem that this is a personal individual's account, by someone that has more interests than just finding Holly Bobo, by looking at the 140 LIKES on the page, including facebook pages such as Ford Mustang, Walmart, iCarly (kids' TV show), Cover Girl (cosmetics), etc.
I hope that you are not just taking the statements made on this facebook page at face value, after this comment was posted on the wall:

If you did not determine that what this individual reported as a found *verified* item was indeed logged in by LE, through an independent source then this article is likely spreading unverified rumor disguised as fact, something you recently criticized another blogger of recently, featured as the main topic of one of your blog articles.
You can't just take someone's word for something being a fact, when you don't even know who is providing that information, simply because they use an official-looking title for their facebook page.
Look at what has actually been posted on the wall, so far. Not much of anything at all, despite the enormous amount of work that volunteer search groups have done since Holly went missing.
Even looking at this group's official website, there is very little there that isn't already part of the regular media, and there is no immediate way of knowing who set it up and is using it and for what (possibly hidden) purposes by looking at the information provided on it.
Why would anyone in an official capacity or directly helping the authorities leak information through a facebook page that the LE is not reporting to the public through the media, and do so in a way that would be directly traced to an official group's facebook page. Think about it.
Please, Chelsea, I'd like you to tell us what your sources are for accepting that the information given on this facebook page is accurate and factual. If you cannot specify a verifiable source beyond an anonymous facebook page, then your reporting is not any better than Isabelle Zehnder's recent coverage of the Bobo case, I'm afraid.
I'd be interested in knowing if you know more than what you've read on the facebook page and website. I'll check back.

Hmmm, you guys are making me think. {ouch}. Never thought in terms of family and LE being quiet in light of a possible abduction. One would think they would be vocal and "talking" to the abductor,{bring holly home...stuff like that} at least in the first several days. Like someone said...quiet but on different sides.
I still think the brother is involved somehow. Is he back in school or working? Is he out and about in public?
off topic, trust me, the best ever clip.

Well, I tried twice to post my first deleted comment from Hoffman's Gather blog article, but even I have my limits of tenaciousness.
3rd and final try:
Here is a link to my comments page through my profile on Gather. Even though Chelsea deleted the comments off of her blog, they show up on my profile comments page.
http://www.gather.com/viewCommentsByMember.action?memberId=1177766
Jolie, I think chelsea might be getting her information on the Blink on crime blog.
http://blinkoncrime.com/
I think she is a member of the scaredmonkeys site.
shels,
Brother? What brother? I see no brother...hear no brother...IS there a brother? ;) No, but seriously, who really knows about him because there is no news AT ALL on the brother, other than the rather strange (and ever-changing) info that was attributed to him in the beginning. Yeah, it is all very strange. This may all make sense eventually, but it looks pretty suspicious right now.
When I read your comment .... "brother, what brother", I got confused for a moment and thought I was blogging about a different case. Which then made me think of other cases.
Why do suspects always go into hiding? Example: Terry Horman. Saw one media clip of her then ...silence. Holly's family, one clip then hiding, no clips of brother. Casey Anthony, no clips of her begging for her child to be returned. Is there a "suspect protection program" that they all go into?
To Anon at 3:54 and 4:01, Yoo actually got a little smile and laugh from me with your Key reference. Thank you. We all need that, and before anyone takes me wrong, no, this is no laughing matter whatsoever and I am not making lite of it in any way. My heart is breaking everyday and I am clinging to every shred of hope and faith I have that Holly will be found and that someone(s) will be brought to justice.
Also to the same Anon, when you post you can choose to use a name (it says Name/URL, you don't have to enter a URL), why not pick a name or some random letters if you don't want to use your real name? Just a suggestion. :)
Jolie, I've had problems with posting here also, I think it could be a blogspot problem?
I also don't think it was wrong of you to "call her out" on her information (Chelsea). I think it was wrong of her to delete posts questioning her, as long as they were not "attacking" her, which yours surely were not imo. And when she posted "this information has been verified", by who? By the people on that FB page? By some unknown Highway Patrol Officer? Lets see the official police statement then, and refer to it. I think you are well within your moral rights to stand your ground, Joplie.
To Pat, thanks for your take on Gather and Examiner. I agree they should not show up under "news", and I know in my own mind they are not official news sources. At least Levi Page stated he contacted KH at the TBI for his information. Hopefully that is a true statement. As for Chelsea, I'll reserve judgment on her "facts" and I'll try not to post anymore rumors that can't be confirmed by a reliable source.
Ok, now my posts are disappearing, like Jolie's. I posted about Jolie's comments regarding CH deleting her posts, and it did in fact post, it was here, now half hour later it's gone. Something really odd going on. Sigh, I didn't save the post, I'll try to recreate it.
